According to exit polls:
“Whites” voted for Trump at the rate of 56 %.
Cuban-Americans voted for Trump at a rate of 58 % (probably higher, actually.)
“Latinos” voted for Hillary Clinton at a rate of 79 %
Indeed this habit of Cuban-Americans to vote (and generally behave) like “White-Americans” has held true for decades and causes immense exasperation among liberals.
Might there be a perfectly logical reason for it? Might Cuban-Americans be themselves –GULP!–mostly white!… Might this ghastly fact explain this hideously-politically-incorrect-conundrum!
Look– I’m not the one who started classifying Americans by ethnicity with regards to their voting habits, etc. Government and media busybodies (mostly liberals) started the practice. OK, fine. It’s a modern fact of life. So let’s live with it.
I’m just saying if they insist on doing this type of thing for political polls, for the government census, for political discussions, etc–then at least do it accurately!
Instead of constantly employing the cumbersome term (from a wordsmith perspective ) “Non-Cuban-Hispanics” to constantly qualify the exasperating (to liberals) political and social habits of Cuban-American–instead of this literary clumsiness–simply dump Cuban-Americans from the “Hispanic” or “Latino” classification altogether. OK?

Instead include Cuban-American in the “White,” category, where they belong by any quasi-rational definition of the term Caucasian.
“White” used to be synonymous with “Caucasian,” also meaning European. Spain is a nation in Europe comprising most of the Iberian Peninsula which was known as Hispania when part of the Roman Empire. This area of Europe was originally peopled mostly by Celtic tribes.
Unlike the rest of what came to be known as Latin America, when Columbus landed Cuba had a tiny indigenous population. Most of these hapless Native Americans quickly perished, mostly from disease also from brutalities by the settlers. So by the 1700 Cuba was populated overwhelmingly by Spaniards. Later African slaves were brought in to work the sugar plantations. But according to the UN in 1957 Cuba’s population was 71 % white.
Oh, I know…I know….For the crime of presenting these historical facts I’m about to be denounced as a “racist.” I can sense it. So here I’ll turn over the floor to a Marxist Mexican (that should cover most of the bases):
“Cuba has a tremendous advantage in national integration over other Latin American countries because of a largely homogeneous white Spanish immigrant base,” wrote UN economist (and Mexican Marxist) Juan Noyola who in 1960 was invited to Cuba by the island’s “Minister of Economics” Che Guevara. “Cuba’s smaller Negro population is also culturally integrated. Those feudal modes of labor that exist in the rest of Latin America, don’t exist in Cuba. The Cuban campesino does not resemble the one in the rest of Latin America The Cuban campesino, in all respects, is a modern man. They have an educational level and a familiarity with modern methods unseen in the rest of Latin America.”
Please don’t worry, liberals. You will still be able to bash Cuban-Americans for their exasperating political and social habits. But at least you’ll be doing it for the same reason you bash “southern whites” and other such “deplorables,” who really can’t help themselves from acting like racists, sexists…blah..blah…blah. It’s all part of that despicable European heritage, you see.
This type of accurate bashing would be a vast improvement (both scientifically and aesthetically) over constantly implying that Cuban-Americans constitute “traitors” to the “Latino” or “Hispanic” s (i.e Meso-Amerindian) political cause-of-the-week.
The term “traitor,” after all denotes more ugliness than the simple, “racist, sexist, homophobic…blah…blah…blah.
So PUH-LEEAZE!–once and for all!–we’re not “traitors!” We’re simply Americans of (mostly) European heritage who can’t help but vote and act like other Americans of (mostly) European heritage.

Above: The lady on the left has a perfectly English name. Yet she is not classified as an “Anglo” and nobody expects her to vote (and otherwise behave) exactly like the gentleman on the right. Each person is correctly recognized as belonging to a different ethnic group from the other.
Yet the gentleman on the left ( because he has a Spanish last name, Fontova) is known as a “Hispanic” and is expected to behave (politically, culturally, etc.) EXACTLY like the gentleman on the right, (who also has a Spanish last name, Lopez.)
Given modern American education, it doesn’t seem to occur to most American pundits, pollsters, opinion-shapers, etc. that each of these gentlemen–though they share ethnically-similar last names– belong to completely different ethnic groups with utterly different cultural and political habits.
The perfectly English name Washington, after all, is the “Blackest name in the U.S.” Yet the thousands upon thousnads of American blacks named Washington are not labeled as “Anglos.” Why then does a Spanish last name automatically make a Toltec, Maya or Aztec a “Hispanic?” In fact, many Americans of mostly Meso-Amerindian heritage themselves (quite understandably) object to this ethnographic idiocy.

79 percent? That’s some pretty damn good plantation dwellers right there. Not the best, of course, but the best are hard to beat (at least outside of totalitarian societies where Massah always gets overwhelming and practically unanimous approval). As for what to call Cuban-Americans, what about Cuban-Americans? Hispanics is technically correct, but “Latinos” is definitely neither appropriate nor acceptable. If I was any less “Latino” I’d be British, if not Swiss.
