Hollywood Hypocrites

It seems Johnny Depp is the latest actor to join the Hollywood elite and bash his country.

"America is dumb, is something like a dumb puppy that has big teeth — that can bite and hurt you, aggressive,"

Doesn't this dumbfuck realize that it's us "dumb puppies" that afforded him his stardom and consequently his economic status? Doesn't this dumbfuck understand that he is essentially biting the hand that feeds him by criticizing America like that?

UPDATE: Depp apparently remembers that he has a new movie coming out and apologizes for his remarks, which, he states were taken "radically out of context." Mmmkay. All's well now Johnny, time for us puppies to head back to a theater near us and enjoy your new movie. Popcorn anyone?

Ok, Ok - your site had me until the whiole Johnny Depp fiasco " Doesn't this dumbfuck understand that he is essentially biting the hand that feeds him by criticizing America like that?"

See the beauty of America as opposed to Cuba is that you can critize it... at least for now. But I guess if more people start having you're viewpoint... it'll be just like Cuba - w/ more money

But good thing you can express your opinion... shouldn't JD be able to as well?

Mad Dater,

Of course that the beauty of America. Unfortunately, Depp chose to debase the US for the German Press. Im quite sure that he would not have had the audacity to say the exact same thing in say, New York City.

Its Johny Depp for Christ sake. The media is the only one that would listen to that washed up, no talant hack.

Yes, Depp has every right to speak his mind, but I think that it is in awfully poor taste, considering the state of matters as of late, that he go and spew this to the European media. Freedom, after all, is not about doing whatever you want whenever you want. If that were the case, oh the things that I'd do! But that's a whole other story. ;o)

Who knows what Depp would or would not have said to the American press (who wound up printing it anyway). The fact is, he gave his honest opinion and now he's being labeled a dumbfuck and hypocrite.

I guess we should all be in lockstep with Dubya right? If you can stand by and nod your head while this Administration wrecks United States foreign policy by alienating long time allies with name calling ("Old Europe", "Chocolate Makers") and arrogance then more power to you. Me? If being labeled a dumbfuck or hypocrite is the price I pay for expecting a little something more reasonable and intelligent from my President, then so be it.

Gee Rick, maybe Dubya should learn to cry on cue, start playing the saxophone, cheat on his wife and lie under oath to the American public. Perhaps a president with backbone isn't what the US needs after all. Maybe we need a president that wavers on every decision and finds a middle ground, however unresolving that decision may be.

As for alienating "old allies", from what I have read and seen, these allies are anything but. I wouldnt want to be friends with self serving, corrupt, anti-Americans.

Don't like Bush? Fine. Don't like the foreign policy? Fine. Criticize it all you want, but insulting it just makes you a target as I don't consider myself a dumb puppy. Obviously, you do.

I'm damned proud to be an American, regradless of my politics, so when you criticize America, I take it personally. Mr. Depp obviously is ungrateful for what America has provided him so no thanks, no popcorn for me. There are plenty of other movies I can watch.

Surprisingly, I probably share alot of your negative opinions of Clinton. But I find it somewhat humorous that Conservatives always seem to assume that if you dislike Bush you must love Clinton. There are some of us out here that recognize incompetence when we see it whether it calls itself a Democrat or Republican.

Europe may not be our best of friends, but they sure were supportive of the U.S. during those dark weeks after 9/11.

But like others who do not go along with the program and condone everything Dubya does, they have been called names and labeled anti-American, pro-Saddam, or anti-war. Consider for just a brief moment that one can be unhappy with Bush's policies and still love this country. It can happen. Really.

Are you a dumb puppy? I don't know. Do you always believe everything anyone tells you? Do you ever consider that politicians lie or at least twist information to suit their needs? Do you collect your information from politically varied sources? Only you can answer those questions.

Rick,

If you read Depp's quote again, you will see that he is not commenting on Bush. It clearly states "America is dumb..." not the government is dumb, not the administration is dumb, but America. That's us. Me AND you, regardless of political affiliation.

And while he exercises his right to opine, I can also exercise mine, and I am of the opinion that he is a hypocrite AND a dumbfuck. He is a hypocrite because he is criticizing the same country gave afforded him all he has now. He is a dumbfuck because apparently he doesnt realize that along with free speech comes the responsibility of standing by your words.

Freedom is not about doing what you want? That's like saying that water is not wet, or salt is not salty. That right there shows the stupidity, the blind sheep patriotism this country is full of. We talk about freedom all the time, but when someone actually says something we don't like all hell brakes lose. Johny Depp expressed his opinion he believed in and you know what, we need more people who are not afraid to speak their mind. Unlike that Britney "Shit for Brains" Spears, who says that we should just support our president and every decision he makes. Basically trying to be politically correct, because she saw what happened with Sigorney Weaver. So we should be sheep? Spears takes advantage of all the dumb 12 year old girls in this country and then says something that would totally destroy the American society. Hey, worked pretty good in Germany during the 1940's didn't it? As far as Depp biting the hand he is feeding on, well that is utter bullshit. He makes his money in Europe too, and if he was going to lose his audience in States, he still would have lots of fans overseas. Besides so what if this country made him popular, does it automatically mean that he should keep his mouth shut and be vanilla like everyone else? Right now this country totally reminds me of Nazi Germany. If Bush was going to come out tommorow and say that we need to kill all the African-Americans and do everything it takes to cleanse ourselves of evil, American people would be with him right away.

Bobby,

Please forgive me, but the only sheep here is you. You dont like the Bush administration? Fine. Some people do, and some people don't. But, you follow the lefty herd of sheep when you even begin to equate this country to fascism and Nazi germany. That's the typical leftist response to every argument that has merit from the conservative point of view. "OHHH its nazi Germany all over again! OHHH, Hitler! its like Hitler!"

The Nazi claim is soooo old and tiring thats it's cliche already. Please man, make an argnment without referring to that. Its just plain stupid.

Perhaps you don't mind the Johnny Depps of the world calling you a "puppy" or a "broken toy" and only good for a few days visit. That's fine by me, too. Now, I am absolutely certain that I am neither a puppy nor a broken toy and I will speak out on it and assert my point of view until I am blue in the face if I have to.

And when the fuck did you ever live in Nazi Germany for you to be so presumptuous as to say this country reminds you of it? You have probably never lived under a totalitarian rule in your life for if you had, you would be singing a very different tune.

Sheesh. For once I would like to hear an argument from the left where the unbelievably moronic comparison of Nazi this and fascism that wasnt used. Grow up man.
