The Show

For all you Yankees fans out there, and you know who you are, that think the upcoming World Series will be anti-climatic, I just want to remind you that the Marlins weren't supposed to make it to the playoffs. They also weren't supposed to beat the Giants in the first round. They surely weren't expected to get passed those oh so lovable Cubs. The Marlins have proven themselves time and again that they are a very good baseball team.

The World Series will be a battle of the best team money can buy against a team that just doesn't give up. So, if you Yankistas care to make a small wager on the outcome, I'm all ears.

Oh, and, once upon a time, the Yankees were Fidel Castro's favorite team. I'm sure he'll be rooting for you all.

I have one thing to say!!!! First I've in HEAVEN right now. To be able to see My Favorite Team since I was 3 and lived in NJ and play in a city I now live and yes I do also like the Marlins, well this is thrilling for me to say the least.

There may be some Yankee fans who think this will be a piece of cake but I'm not one of those fans b/c I know that the Florida Marlins are a great team and have alot of heart and work hard everytime they get out there. I know this will be another 6 or 7 game series between these two teams.

Some continually say that the Yankees buy the World Series but in Baseball you can be paid millions of dollars and play well each day and still lose because lets not forget that those million dollar makers are human beings that can mess up so nothing is for sure no matter how much you make.

I'm sure the Marlin fans aren't disappointed that the Marlin Owners have invested more money into the team and I heard no complaints when Wayne Hizienga bought all those expensive players in 1997 except in the next year when he dismantled the team... The man of no faith and the heartbreaker of people. Heaven he shall not see. I'm sure the Marlins manager will continually go after better players and No one in Florida will complain about it.

As for Fidel, he just knows a good thing when he sees one.

I wish the Marlins and their lovable fans Good Luck and I wish my Yankee players the best. It won't matter who wins because both teams have earned their spots in what to me is the Best World Series I will see. The 2003 Florida Marlins vs The New York Yankees Series. God has the biggest heart. Bless all of you and the world!!!!

Umm...that's harsh. My Dad, an anti-communist/Fidel "gusano," was a Yankee fan through and through ever since he was in Cuba. So whether or not Fidel ever liked the Yankees is of no consequence. That said, you do have a point about their being made up of the best players money could buy. That's no secret. But I've gotta tell you, I certainly feel that they really deserved the win last night anyhow. The Red Sox were real jerks this year.

I'm not as big a baseball fan as my Dad was, so who wins the Series is not an issue. I'm just looking forward to it for the entertainment value.

Just wanted to add that while my Dad was a diehard Yankee fan, he was also a BIG time Dolphin fan. Go figure. lol

Yankees fans aren't saying it will be anti-climactic because it's going to be a walkover (in fact, I think the Marlins have an excellent shot at winning), but because it won't have the same emotional content as did an ALCS against the longtime rival Red Sox.

Patty,

You do know I was kidding on the Castro thing right? I mean, it was his favorite team, but, the Yankees are pretty much every Cubans favorite team. I wonder how my grandfather would feel watching this World Series. He was a true Yankees fan and he always said Miami would have a team someday, just never lived to see it.

Val,

Of course I know you were kidding. :^) Just commenting on the reference is all. I suppose, upon reading my post again, that it did seem a little dry the way I put it though didn't it? Certainly not my intention. I still stand by my "Red Sox were jerks" comment though. lol

Trust me, baseball is not something I'm interested in, although I do usually get into it all (i.e. the hype) around Series time. I admit to preferring a nice period drama myself. ;^)
