BlogCuba

I could have taken Scott's advice and called it Carnival of the Cubanities but there are just a few too many carnival's out here in Blogland. I also thought about calling it El Blogueo Cubano, an interesting play on words as we Cubans call the embargo El Bloqueo. In the end, I opted for short and concise: BlogCuba.

What is BlogCuba you ask? Well....

Imagine a slew of excellent bloggers blogging in topical unison. I have asked, begged, plead, twisted arms, harrassed, or elsed and whined my way to having a bunch of great writers each do one essay, article, post or entry on the island of Cuba. It could be anything about the country and there were no rules, regulations or requirements save for that one.

It will be deliciously interesting to see what everyone comes up with so I hope you all will drop by next Friday the 12th and check them all out.

If you are interested in submitting an entry and I have been remiss in contacting you, drop me a line.

I just wrote a post you might be interested. But check out the Iranain pro-democracy movement, which is mostly blogged. Not sure if that's what you had in mind, but conditions in Iran are somewhat (though certainly not exactly) similar to Cuba. I've tried to keep up w/ the growing Iranian blogosphere. It's impressive. And brave (many bloggers have been arrested).

How about: Blogaso, Blogomania, Ño!Blog, CubaHeartLaYuma or Dirty Blogging II: Havana Nights, oops! that one's taken, no?
