I know you aint talkin' 'bout my chicken....

Well folks, there's a BBQ contest a-brewing here in blogland. Seems some other blogger believes that some electric contraption can make smoked beer butt chicken better than the original, authentic real fire smoker.

Now, I'm not criticizing the other blogger, 'cause, well, not only is he a damn fine blogger but he wrote a cookbook as well. But, you see, while I dont have the mastery of all the culinary arts, there is one thing that I do and do very well when it comes to cooking. I can smoke. You name it, Ive smoked it.

So, Steve, come on my man, me and my Fred Flinstone era smoker are ready to take on your pansy 'lil 'lectric smoky thingy.

UPDATE:To be a bit cliche:

Garage sale charcoal smoker: $5
20 lbs charcoal: $10
5 lbs mesquite wood chips: $5
Handily beating your buddy's nasty electrically smoked beer butt and handing it to him on a platter: Absolutely Priceless

Oh, please..

This is somewhat analogous to the drinking contests sponssored by the local frats on a Friday night.

Sort of a "quien es mas macho?" done with poultry instead of sex-in-a-canoe beer.

When food is involved, real fire always wins.

Gee, I thought when wood chips burned, it WAS real fire.
