Role Reversal
Used to be the Democratic party was the party of the people. The party that gave voice to the little guy, to the dissenter, to the guy interested in fairness and fairplay, to the poor guy with an opinion, to the minority.
Used to be that the Democratic party stood for the American Ideal. The party that stood for equality. The party that stood for tolerance.
I dont think it stands for any of that anymore. The voice of little guy is muted now unless it agrees with the party's tenet. The dissenter nowadays is lambasted if his dissent is not their dissent. There is no tolerance. If you are not a democrat then you are labeled a warmonger, a racist, a facist.
There appears to be no respect anymore in the democratic party. Its leaders affiliate themselves with persons that slander the President of their country. They are buddy buddy with people who call their Commander in Chief a "Hitler."
On TV the other day I saw a man at the DNC get trampled at a protest simply for carrying a pro-life sign. His sign was ripped from his hands and tossed on the ground and almost torn apart, the only thing that saved it was the man throwing himself on top of it. He put his safety on the line for what he believed in. And then, lying there on the ground atop his poster, he had to withstand the outrageous hatred via screams and chants toward him simply because he had a moral conviction and dared express his views in a crowd of Democrats.
There is no equality or peace or acceptance or tolerance or respect. There is only hatred and lies and innuendo and exaggerations and whining and implications and outright disrespect. Truth is but a hurdle to the Democratic party. Patriotism is but an obstacle. What is right and what is moral are immaterial. The only thing that matters is winning. Winning at all costs. Winning despite causing perhaps irreparable damage to the soul of the country.
It is depressing. It is un-American. It is extreme. And anything in the extreme is bad.

It is kind of taunting, I might say, to bring a Pro-Life poster to the DNC.
That's just like when pro-statehooders bring U.S. flags to pro-Independence protests. Conflict is bound to arrise.

As odd as it may sound, there =are= some pro-life Democrats (though not as numerous as pro-choice Republicans). There used to be room in the big tent for this currently unacceptable point-of-view, and that wasn't so long ago.

Let me ask you Manny, what rights of yours have been violated? What has the PATRIOT act taken away from you, personally?
Perhaps you should go back a little further in history and find out what party it was that abolished slavery and what party it was that instituted Jim Crow. Look it up, then come back with a better and more original response.

Val,
Again you in the past, look around today, Who is trying to write bigotry back into the constitution. It only took 200 years to get the original bigotry out of it. What party is clearly for everybody's rights today, there's no question but that it is the Democratic Party. Except for the gun thing, I'm working on that one.

Tom,
You are so completely absorbed it is truly pathetic. Look at any dem protest and you will see the hate displayed quite prominently. I suggest you do a little soul searching man. you need it.
