Frances and the dry pussy.

Well, the cat reigning over my yard has survived Hurricane Frances. He has been holed up in shed. Apparently, he sneaked in on Friday when I was storing all the lawn furniture and crap. I dont know why, but I had a feeling it was going to be in there. Nice and dry and cozy with the shed all to himself.

Nothing much else to report on the hurricane from here. Some downed branches, a bit gusty, light rain. The pool is full of leaves, but all in all no big dilemmas.

Kathy has some excellent Hurricane Frances bloggage over at on the Third Hand, as does the Laughing Wolf. And let's not forget Steve who says that Hurricane Frances is a wuss. Maybe Frances is French?

Today is my wife's birthday. We were going to throw a big backyard bash but Frances decided to poop the party. She's totally disappointed. Of course, given the major running around I had to do pre-hurricane, I did not have time to get her a birthday present. So, today will be a pamper-the-wife-because-I love-her-and-she deserves-besides-it's-her-bithday day. I have a nice filet of salmon and some crab and will be cooking up a culinary feast to honor my beautiful wife. I've also got a slew of ripe avocados thanks to Frances blowing them off my neioghbors tree. I wonder, does salmon and crab go with avocados?

Or, should I just broil the salmon topped with Spaghetti-O's?

Val, you are my friend and I will do much for you. Including hurt you very badly if you put Spaghetti-O's on the salmon. Crab and avacado go very well together, as does salmon and avacado. Go for it! Avacado salad, vinegrette, topped with some crab. Just one of several that pops into mind. Good luck, and my wishes for a Very Happy Birthday and a new year filled with love, health, happiness, and joy to your better half!

I vote for Spaghetti-O's...they go with everything.

Of course I'm still single, so that could have something to do with my opinion.

Naw. Go for the O's.

I love a happy ending.

[Cut to scene of hero with lovely wife on one arm, avacado salad in other hand, and feral kitten on top of head, marching off toward life's next chapter.]

Val:

Glad you guys are safe. Now if only something would distract Ivan. . .

Happy Birthday, Maggie. May you have many more years to wean Val away from Spaghetti-Os.

Sincerely,

Jerome and Catherine

I'm glad to hear you guys made it through relatively unscathed. Wish me the same: hopefully the thing will just keep moving west and not strengthen over the Gulf like they think it might. :-S

Happy birthday to Maggie. And I vote for Spaghetti-O's, too.
