Kiss My Free Cuban Ass, Bonnie
I am sure the late, great Celia Cruz, the queen of Cuban music, would look at musicians such as Bonnie Raitt, Peter Buck of R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp and a slew of others and be completely baffled. Here are American musicians, born with the security blanket of freedom and constitutional rights, who are so dislodged from reality that they promote socialism.
Socialism. The very same thing these artists use their voices and talents to promote is the very same thing that in the end silences them.
American artists performing for Fidel Castro, singing at the top of their lungs about whatever they want, while Cuban artists find themselves and their voices stifled and muted.
Ask any Cuban musician in the states what it took to get here. Ask Paquito De Rivera or Arturo Sandoval what sacrifices they had to make to sing and play freely. Listen to their odes to their homeland and feel the pain of what they lost. Music of lament.
Vote for Change and Rock the Vote consist of people with their heads so far up their asses that they can't help but consume the Marx, Chomsky, Castro propaganda.
Celia would call them comemierdas. Shit eaters.

Celia had far too much class to even deal with those fools.
I do laugh to think of what she might have said though...

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM?! Oh. My. Gawd.
I love Bonnie's voice and musical ability but her politics stink to high heaven.
Dumbass.

Celia'e having to give the money she
earned to anti-Castro groups so she
could work is blackmail. What do you call
it Liberty Tribute?
Please do not rail against socialism
when Cuban refugees/exiles quickly availed
themselves of all the American versions:
Social Security,
medicaid, welfare.
"De ayuda" as you say.

Val, don't trip on WOOF, he really doesn't know any better. Poor fool is a product of the leftist school of character assassination.
In his feeble mind, she had to pay "tribute" to anti-Castro groups so that she could perform here in the US, never mind that she was already beloved through the Latin World already...
The though never occurs to leftists that people can change. Celia just got tired of Castro's BS and decided she wanted something better.
And we're all the richer for her having been here.
Dios bendice, Celia
