Makin' Chili (Updated)
We are experiencing a cold front here in Miami today, the highs will be in the upper 70's , so I thought it would be a great day to make my award winning chili.
I just received a comment on the chili recipe post which I will share with you all:
I was surfing trying to find a new chili recipe and I ended up on this BLOG. I LOVE chili and have several recipes that I really enjoy but thought I would give your recipe a try.Wow, this is awesome. It has been simmering for about 2 hours now and it smelled so good I had to take some. {Pause to take a bite}. This is my new favorite!!!!
Thank you very much for the recipe. I made the whole recipe and I think I have like 4 gallons of chili. I tweaked it slightly but I promise I did not tamper with it too much.
{Pause to take another bite}
I can only imagine how good it will taste tomorrow night for dinner with some homemade corn bread. It's always better the second day!!! I am so excited.
Thanks Again!
Heh! Take that, chili purists!!
Tommorow, Steve will be coming over and we'll be frying patacones out at ManCamp.
Eat your hearts out, patacones and chili-less people!
UPDATE: It's in the thickening stage right now:

Oh, man oh man.

Uh, Val? If the grease catches fire, don't try to blow it out. OK?

Cornbread...hmm...that would take about three minutes to throw together...

A pox on you-upper 70's indeed. Break out the sweats, crank up the furnance. There was frost on my patio, now unused, furniture this morning. I shudder to think whats going on at my house at 8500'

I'm a member of the patacones-less and chili-less peoples eating my heart out.
I'm not a huge chili fan, but that looks downright yummy, Val!
After reading Steve's "Eat What You Want and Die Like a Man" I'm in the mood for that PMS remedy of his. My son has to make a recipe for his "Home Ec" class (which is no longer called home economics, but something like "life skills" or something equally PC (insert eyeroll here). I wonder if his teacher would appreciate it. Heh.

I swear I can smell it!!! Dang it.....
It is wonderfully cool this weekend isn't it! I'm going to be making a huge pot of my beef stew for football Sunday.
You guys enjoy.

Good Lord, Val. I have human appendages that aren't as big as those jalapeņos. Too bad you're not up here for Jaguar-Chiefs tailgating today.

Looks almost as good as my chili.

It would look fabulous without the freaking BEANS...
I'm going to go home and make some chili

While some of us prefer a definition of chili that calls the non-bean components "chili" and allows for addition of beans (so we have terms "chili" and "chili with beans"), the real test is not "what would you call it" but "would you eat it?"
To which I answer "hell yes, with chopped onion, grated cheese, and salsa adorning the top, and to excess, until either my gut or heart explodes."
The "would you eat it" test is infinitely more important.
