This just in from Cuba:

The broken kneed dictator is still in charge.

Political prisoners still rot in jail.

Power still goes out for hours on end throughout the island.

The people still cant own their homes or operate businesses.

There are long lines in order to get a fistfull of rice.

European tourists can still get a blow job for a can of Coke.

Hospitals and clinics are still closed for lack of medical supplies.

Doctors have not returned from Venezuela.

Communism sucks.

Y dice ese MARIC...(fidel) que en cuba no falta nada.

Yeah, but Fidel is admired by the Hollywood elite, so hey, those people who can't eat are just a bunch of Karl Rove -inspired liars.

But how can all those rich Hollywood celebrities be wrong? They have to be right...I mean they're rich, they're famous, and, uh...they're rich...and uh, well...uh, famous.

Right?

El día de la liberación para Cuba vendrá. Soon I hope.

Before Hollywood fell in love with Castro, American newspapers did. Go back to the coverage in the late fifties and read about the non-communist agrarian reformer Castro. It's a shame no one doing those apologetics-as-news didn't bother to research the matter. Wasn't our buddy Fidelzebub involved with an abortive mainland (not Cuban) revolution in 1949, where he announced his name and that the festivities were a communist revolution?

Either laziness, error, duplicity, or wishful thinking came into play, but Castro's first, best friend was American news coverage. At one point to claim Castro was a communist would get you labeled as some kind of psycho fringe right winger. Oddly, the folks who were proved right were never publically exonerated of this accusation.
