Arbolito, Arbolito

We are heading out in search of our Christmas tree this morning. I've got the reindeer hooked up to the sleigh and ready to go. My trusty ax has been sharpened and Im all bundled up as it's snowing outside.

After our sleighride, the Mrs and I are going to cozy up by the fireplace and roast chestnuts. I still have some coal left over from last Christmas.

UPDATE: Seriously, is there anything better than the scent of a fresh Christmas tree in your home?

Fresh trees are the best! We cut down our own every year and it's a family tradition. Nothing like it to bring out the true scent of the holiday season.

I love it! We got ours today. The only problem is that we don't live close enough to a tree farm to go get one. Although the tree guy we go to cuts his the 3 days before Thanksgiving and trucks them down here on Thanksgiving, so it's as fresh as can be and drinking water like mad.

Also, it has to be a pine. No frickin' fir trees for us. Cheaper, too.

Val, you brought me back to my childhood. My brother (age 4 back then) used to play over & over some 78s with Arbolito.
I posted the lyrics at my blog.

How's the tree? All decorated?

I love the smell of a fresh tree, I admit it. One problem, though - we celebrate Navidad, Año Nuevo, and Reyes, and if you are boricual like me, count las octavitas, and all the way to Feb 2 - Candelaria Day. It's a long time to have a tree up.

My mother used to buya fresh tree days before Christmas, and we would enjoy it until after Reyes. Nowadays, I get pissed off when I see people throwing their trees out on the street curve on the 26th of December! Dang it, it's not over! What determines that kind of stupidity? The season's commerce?

I think I have a fresh pine tree spray somewhere in my Xmas stuff. I'll spray it around my tree. Hopefully, no one will know the difference... ;)
