Today's Cubanism
Last night I posted an entry linking to Yoan's blog and ended it with an already translated Cubanism. So, I thought I'd give you guys a heads up on what it means.
"You ate it, horse."
In Cuban, when someone says or does something perfectly, we say "Te las comistes." You ate it. I dont know exactly why or where this particular phrase originates from, but it's fairly common.
The term caballo, or horse, is used as a superlative. Thus:
Te la comistes, caballo. (You ate it, horse.)
Means "You did a great freaken job, horse."

I suppose that by today's slang principles, one would say, "You did a great freakin' job, dogg." lol Same sort of thing.

Hey, that is such a great saying! Think I might have to find use for it. I love reading your blog, it is so refreshingly candid about the real situation in Cuba that we mostly don't hear.
