Another dissident freed

The castro regime freed 59-year-old independent journalist Edel Garcia yesterday. Bringing the total to 6 released dissidents this week. I am glad that these men have been saved from what must be deplorable conditions in castro's prisons, but I'm not claiming victory.

Releasing these few dissidents is castro's way of getting into good graces with the European Union. He needs them and he needs their Euros since the islands currency is no longer the US dollar.

There are still many dissidents in prison, including Oscar Elias Biscet, who have no hope of seeing the light of day anytime soon. The released prisoners all had serious medical problems. The last thing castro needs is for a dissident to die in jail.

As I commented on Randy's blog yesterday, what the media is covering is basically just a transfer of jail cells, from a small one the size of a closet, to a large one the size of an island.

Why can't the sob just die already?
