Democracy in Iraq

72% of population reportedly has voted in the first Iraqi elections in over 50 years.

Freedom. What beautiful thing.

...and John Kerry said this morning that we "should not overhype this election." Considering his (and the Dems') steadfast support of communist regimes in the past, this is not a surprising comment. In any event, this is a big effing deal: would that we could see the same in the country of my (and Val's) birth... Viva Cuba Libre!

I pray we will soon see free elections in Cuba! I've sat here at the computer reading the Iraqi blggers through tears. Last night when the voting started I felt much the same as I did as a 9 year old when WWII ended. Elation. Blessings to Cuba.

I watched the Iraqi elections with great joy and hopes that one day we will also have free elections in Cuba. I can't help but also feel a small amount of envy.

Val, see what Barcepundit in Barcelona, Spain, has to say about this. I fell off my chair laughing...

Hey, MoveOn has a Spanish-language version. Thanks, Jorge. Is your middle initial doble-ve?

pardon me but democracy was not what our troops went to war for we had to protect the usa from wmd's quote bush, cheney, rice, powell, love how the right has selective memory...
