Fainting?! Fainting?!
There's no fainting in blogging.
This is "The Mrs.", writing for my grouchy, whining, Cuban husband. Men are such babies. I am taking this keyboard with me when I leave to the office, he can keep his remote control! Doctors orders.
He dictated the following:
The news of my demise is premature. I did not "faint", I did not "pass out" and I don't think I'm pregnant.
After being poked with a slew of needles, giving out at least two Budweiser bottles full of blood, being EKG'D, Cat scanned and being interrogated with dozens of medical questions, I'm told I have Vertigo. My blood pressure is normal, sugar level normal and my heart rate is such that I was asked if I was a world class athlete. Cat scan came back negative which means there were no anomalies found in my one active brain cell. Contrary to Steve's contention, I do in fact have a brain, albeit a slightly used one.
Doctors at the hospital said the Vertigo may have come from a couple of things. The ear infection I had a few months ago, some other neurological problem not shown on the catscan or faultering eyesight. I was given meds and told to rest for a few days with a massive list of "don'ts".
Personally I think the 40 year warranty on my eyesight had just expired so I'll be checking them first.
I want to thank Amanda for cracking the whip here at Babalu and also Steve for being part of the blog EMS crew and, of course, all of you guys that came by and wished me well and wished me a speedy recovery. I especially want to thank my my boss, who took care of me during the absolute worst few moments of my life. Gracias, O.
And dont worry folks, I'll be here long after the bearded bastard has had his date with Beelzebub.

Val - glad you're in good spirits and on the mend. I personally think it was the ill-gotten plan of eating TurDuckEn that caused you this spell (men don't faint). Blame Steve. Sooner or later the animal Gods were going to get one of you...

"And dont worry folks, I'll be here long after the bearded bastard has had his date with Beelzebub."
Sometimes I think he'll outlive all of us. I remember about 10-15 years ago (memory is fuzzy, must be the lack of cafe), on WSVN, Rick Sanchez did what seemed to be a month long series "Countdown to a Fall?". It was as if they expected Castro to keel over any minute.
If he happens to die anytime soon, the biggest party in the history of the world (maybe) will be at Versailles on calle ocho.

To The Mrs., thanks for posting that, and a gold medal will be on the way soon for putting up with him. *G*
Val, do take it easy, check the eyes, and take care of yourself! Consider that an order, soldier, as I do want you around long after the bearded bastard is gone, so we can dance and more on his grave.

Vertigo ain't no easy thing. I had an ear infection and went down for the count in my house. I literally couldn't walk for a day. I had to crawl to a phone. The floor kept spinning up to meet my head, I hate it when that happens, but literally...the floor would raise up, wack me on the side of my head and then the floor would stay vertical like that. I asked myself, why is my house leaning to one side? I loaded myself up with Dramamine and barracaded myself in for a couple of days and haven't had that happen since. It was quite frightening.

I don't think I've had vertigo, but with some kinds of bug I get this weird photophobia, where light makes me need to vomit. I never really understood that symptom. Maybe it was someone casting a spell on me or something.

I had some horrible nameless tropical disease in Singapore that at its origins was an ear infection. I could not stand up straight without feeling the dizziest I have ever felt in my life. The docs couldn't figure it out until a coworker told me he had it. Took me two weeks to get over. Awful stuff!

Hang in there and get well soon!

Yeah, that ear infection/vertigo thing is a real bear. I had it when I was carrying my middle kid, and the next thing I knew we were both on the ground and I couldn't stop the ground from spinning. That was a real bad feeling.
Hope you get well soon.

Thank you, Mrs. Prieto, for the update.
Val - I feel your pain, bro. I'll be 40 in five days and I don't WANT to start fainting all ovah the place. Any suggestions?
Heh.
Take it easy and make Steve come over and massage your feet or something. Maybe feed you grapes?
xoxo
