Hot damn, Val... I think I broke my hip when I fell off the chair laughing... Hasta la Victoria Secrets!
Posted by: Miguel-O-Matic at March 3, 2005 09:59 AM
This is hilarious.
While entering my school today, I picked up the NewTimes, they had a picture of this korean comic named magaret Cho, with the full "Che" uniform on + Beret, and acting as if she had a rifle. And then, I flipped the page, and there was a positive criticism on the movie, "The Motorcycle Diaries." OH MY GOD, can America stop with the ignorance? Geez, I'm getting to a point that is I see someone wearing a che sirt, I'm gonna give 'em a speech.

OK, hip's fine... I'm off the floor... Here's the full caption...
Hasta la Victoria Secrets! Be-e-e-e-rracos!

Hey Val you need to make a t-shirt out of this and sell it in your blog. It actually has a good a chance to make inroads into the "other" one's market penetration.

That is a much needed improvement over the orginal. If anyone can turn it into a tee shirt, I'd pay good money for one.

This is awsome! How about doing a floor mat to wipe your feet on?

HOLY CRAP, WE HAVE THONGS!!!
Thanks a lot, Val...
And now for the M/C commercial...
Internet access, $10,
"Che is Dead" Tshirt, $15,
Picture of a "Che is Dead" thong with the "MADE IN THE USA" logo next to it, FREAKING PRICELESS...
Posted by: Miguel-O-Matic at March 3, 2005 12:48 PM
This is all too damn good. ROFLMAO. I like the floor mat idea a lot to.

Posted by: Colombiano at March 3, 2005 04:34 PM
Eh?
La respuesta - porque es hipocrita.

I'll keep an eye out to see how long the KafePress Kremlin allows desecrating one of their icons.

Well, my first ever purchase from CafePress has just been made. Too good to resist!
I got the T-shirt by the way, instead of the thong--just couldn't bear the thought of anything che-like residing below my waist...
Too funny--thanks!

Wow. What maturity.
I would expect this behavior from high school students but a guy in his 40s. . .??
And the comments are just sad.
I'm sure you all know the Che image is in many Cuban homes. I've seen it myself the several times I visited Cuba. Sure, it's easy to criticize an ignorant American wearing a tacky t-shirt. I would too. But I'm almost afraid to ask what you would think of your own people who happen to have that image in their homes. Would you be enraged with them as well? Are they doing it against their will? Revolutionary zealots? Misguided, ignorant dupes? Cronies? How would you label them? Chivos, perhaps?
As a recent newcomer checking out this site, and a relatively neutral party, I'm saddened at the level of vitriol in the posts. I have to say, a lot of you have issues. . . :-(
But please don't lecture me about Che. I know he killed his enemies in cold blood. Also, please try to refrain from calling me a pionero, maricón, hijo de puta, or whatever else you call people who don't see things as you do. I'm not Cuban or Cuban-American, and my politics are pretty mild compared to yours. As an American citizen who enjoys travel and has been to many countries around the world, I regret that I have to take discrete measures in order to visit Cuba. . . :-(

Oh gee, sad poster, what a drag that the embargo complicates your vacation plans.
Sad indeed.
Posted by: Grace at March 3, 2005 08:49 PM
Hahahah.
Cojelo suave con take it easy.

Well said, Grace.

Sad Poster, cheer up... Cubans are supposed to be jodedores. Didn't you figure that out in your visits to the island?... Now, picture this, you live in Cuba, and you've been staring at your naked walls for years (ever since you traded your 1957 picture of El Valle de Yumuri for a quarter pound of coffee), your neighbor tells you that the government is providing pictures to hang on the wall... You rush to the store, stand in line for 4 hours, and finally get to the counter... Here are your choices: (1) a picture of Castro (no freaking way... you hate the SOB and he's looking pretty worn out), (2) a picture of Lenin (damn, that bald guy is pretty ugly... his head looks like a freaking bombillo), and (3) a picture of Che (hey, he's not too bad to look at, and, thank god the mother f***er is dead... maybe El Caballo will join him soon). Which one would you pick to cover your naked walls?

JesuCristo! There's never a chupacabra around when you need one! Que mierda!
Posted by: cohetedude at March 3, 2005 09:49 PM
Well, whatever gets your rocks off, I guess. :-(
If it gives you a feeling of empowerment, enjoy it while it lasts.
I won't bug you guys any more. Try to be less bitter (not healthy for you), and buena suerte.

Sad, if you'd like to feel less sad, you could try not being a Commie shill (see- no Spanish words there). :p
Posted by: Bill H at March 4, 2005 08:32 AM
Sorry to see you go, Sad Poster... Hope it wasn't something I said...
BTW, I inadvertently left one bit out in my previous comment... There were originally four choices available at the counter: (4) a picture of Jose Marti. Sadly, by the time you got there, they were all gone...

Sad Poster:
Having travelled to Cuba and seeing Che in many homes doesn't make a tourist an expert in the country's political under-currents.
Be humble. If interested, study, learn.
The guy had certain ideals, and like many idealists in human history made the life of manny innocent by-standers miserable, and many were killed in the process.
Learn what happened between 1959 and 1963.
Learn how under Che guidance many small, relatively poor farmers lost what they had, in the name of the poor.
Learn how many were summarily executed after being judged by an improvised tribunal; with
evidence accepted being the testimony of anyone who had (real or invented) "seen" the person commiting crimes as members of the previous government.
Et cetera, et cetera.
In my opinion, Che' was a '60s terrorist, in the grand-style of Soviet era. Killing people in the name of the people.Communism gave him the power to do so.
When I say (above) "be humble" this is what I mean: a number of us humans were born and suffered under communism, the way others did under nazism, and so on.
I'm assuming you are born American. If so, you had the privilege to be born in a place where, if not perfect, at least is the closest to the ideal of being a human and have your human rights respected.
Now go out and burn that Che T-shirt in your backyard.

Yes! Many of us have been waiting for you.
Let's sell that T-shirt everywhere! :)
Good job, I loved and rolled on the floor laughing with all the postings, the video, and other comments in the website.

Sad Poster,
As anonymous almost said:
Having bug poison in your closet does not make you a cockroach, but it will still kill you if you eat it while pretending to be one.
But Sad Poster, read the book "Shadow Warrior", it tells to the detail how your hero died and the event leading up to it.
I heard he was kicking and screaming all the way, like a cucaracha! And the chiva who abandoned him to be killed was his tio fidel, not tio Sam.

Val,
