No disinfectant for you!
Once again, presented without editorial comment:
SANTA CLARA, Cuba - May 13 (Karel Castillo, Cubanacán Press / www.cubanet.org) - A man walking down the street carrying a gallon container of chlorine was arrested by police last Wednesday in Santa Clara.According to Maikel Linares, who witnessed the arrest, police stopped the man and asked him to produce documentation for himself and the chlorine, and subsequently took him into a patrol car.
The man told police two blocks away from where they stopped him there is a place where one can buy as much chlorine as desired, but they were paying no attention, said Linares.
Chlorine is in high demand in Cuba as a disinfectant. More often than not it is in short supply, and some make a living going from door to door selling it. Presumably, police suspected the arrested man of engaging in private economic activity.

One is tempted to say they want all of Cuba to resemble castro's hospitals. But the thuggery points to something more serious. Is there corruption at a chlorine plant? Is chlorine used as some kind of weapon? There is some weird reason we don't know about that they are cracking down on chlorine. These castro thugs must be afraid of something.
