El Muro del Desahogo
The Venting Wall
There's a grand Mariel Boatlift exhibit here at the Convention this year marking the 25th anniversary of the Mariel Boatlift. The entrance is a mock up of a boat typical of those that brought so many thousands to freedom - along with those undesirables that fidel castro saw fit to impose on us.
It continues as a sort of maze, where you walk through white walls beset with incredibly heartwrenching and touching photographs. From pictures of boats asea, to photographs of the ramifications of a city having to absorb tens of thousands of immigrants all at one shot.
Along the outsirts of this exhibit are works or art by Marielito artists, whose works range from sceneries and lansdscapes to erotica. All are beautiful and all are reminiscent of Cuba.
Yet perhaps the most touching is El Muro del Desahogo, the Venting Wall, where thick permanent markers are available for all those whow want to vent their frustration, show their anger and most importantly express the bittersweetness of being Cuban. That overflowing emotional stew of hope and despair and lament and nostalgia.
And of waiting...

Because he is a motherfucking piece of decrepit shit but he does remember what happened to China after Tiananmen Square?
At it was NOT just ALLOWED, it has been 8 years in the making, The EU (to which The Beast is still VERY dependant on) not only sanctioned but enthusiastically supported the meeting. he is in NO position right now to get the EU to come down REALLY hard on him.
And.. Because as any despot, dictator since Hitler knows, global public opinion can be a BITCH if it goes against you.
Now, do YOU know how many private Cuban citizens were secretely threatened that if they as much as got near that meeting, their asses would be ash?
