El cubaneo en su apojeo
For as long as I can remember I have heard the saying "We Cubans are everywhere" meaning that there are Cubans living in almost every single part of the world. This is confirmed by the fact that in the past year or so I have received emails from Cubans living in exile from all over the world. Canada, Australia, Slovenia, all over Europe, all over South America and Africa. I even recieved one email from a Cubano living in Iceland not too long ago. Iceland! Other than freezing his behind off, what the heck is a Cuban, and island boy, doing in Iceland?
Now it seems we Cubans in exile are an ever growing community on the internet. Id like to call attention to two of these Cuban-Internetians in particular.
First, we have the brand spanking new blog of Babalu reader and commenter Songacuassal, which is chock full of excellent Cuba related items, news and editorials. Coņo, Songa, welcome aboard this crazy blog trip, mi hermano. Es un placer y un orgullo asere.
I also want to call your attention to the website of another Babalu reader: Fishfan, who offers us TrenBlindado, a true labor of love where you can read about the true story of the armored train car of Santa Clara during the beginning of fidel castro's revolution. I urge you to read the whole thing, as you will gain insight into yet another painful page of the Cuban reality. Fishfan, gracias for your hard work on this project, I know it must have been extremely difficult and somewhat painful.
What are you guys still doing here? Go read them. Now.

Val, It's great to hear about these compatriots of ours, and the useful information service they provide to everyone, free. Good to see there's a few more folks around who are not interested in going back to claim cabanas or anything like that.
Some day, when I have "a little more time," please remind me to tell you --and the readers of Babalublog.com, the tale of my most unexpected finding of a cubanazo... at a telef'erico station on a mountaintop in Canada.

And, no, I haven't forgotten that I promised you stories about El Mapa de La Habana; Artists and their Favorite Creations; El Encanto; and Las Jevas de Babalu at CubaNostalgia. I assure you that I *am* working on them.
I'm also trying to get more photos online at www.zphotos.smugmug.com --God, I'd be grateful if you could give me a few more hours in each of my days!

Ill tell you what a Cuban is doing freezing his ass off in Iceland, getting the fuck away from cagastro by whatever means possible.
In all fairness, I am working for the good guys and hail from the hood, Cobras all the way. But I have met quite a few individuals here, who by the way, Ive turned on to the blog, who are freezing their asses off and loving every minute that they are away from the hell incarnate that that turd has created.
I always am amazed at their ending up here, but as that story posted here by the US Marine Medic that told of the persons walking through the mine field only to be turned back to their deaths illustrated, this is WAY better than that place under the castro.
How they got here is the usual, marriages on the island to escape, athletic trainers and medical personnel for rent that flee the first chance given. Sad is the reality of these Cubans. But these guys are ambassadors of the truth, they don't hesitate for one minute to refute the bullshit that the apologists spew.
Some day soon.....

Wow Val, as usual you are an excellent source to find the truth about the history of Cuba and the revolution. I just finished reading the story of "the Armored Train of Santa Clara" and it was fascinating.
Thank you Val and of course Mr Gomez for that enlightening story....

Cubans all over, you bet.....
My oldest daughter, a Cuban/Italian/American, (I'm Cuban, her mom Is Italian, she was born here, I guess that makes all of my 4 children mutts), just came back from a bussiness/pleasure trip to Iceland, where she attended a wedding and a staff meeting for the Icelandic company for which she is VP-USA, she had a terrifc if cold and sleepless time there.
She took with her 300 Miami made cuban cigars (my own private blend) for the party.
It would be kinda fun If we could give her the E-Mail address of the cuban freezing his ass off in Iceland, she could put him in contact with a bunch of icelanders that have been here in Miami at her home and taken a liking to cuban stuff (guayaberas, cigars, media-noches, cafe etc), it would be interesting and fun to see the reaction on both sides.
