Compulsory Cuban Health Care Post of the Week

But the free healthcare! The healhcare!!!

SANTA CLARA, Cuba - May 31 (Karel Castillo, Cubanacán Press / www.cubanet.org) - A 31-year-old woman is in critical condition at the Mariana Grajales maternity hospital in Santa Clara since May 28 due to what her friends call malpractice on the part of doctors who operated on her.

Yazmín Albalá was operated for ovarian cysts by a medical team led by a Dr. Sandely, twice.

"She was operated on, but the ineptness of the medical team left her with continued discomfort," said Mirelys Domínguez, a colleague of Albalá.

Domínguez said that on the second operation, Dr. Sandely caused damage to her aorta, and that Albalá has had four cardiac arrests as a result.

Albalá is in the intensive care unit at the hospital. She is a lab technician at the Santa Clara clinic.

Maybe she should have gone to Venezuela for that great free Cuban healthcare.

WHat can we expect Val? I'm sure the NY TImes has something on it.
