From Today's Crossword...

38 Across, seven letters:

"Where many Cubans put their trust?"

Anyone want to take a stab at it?

Update: Here's a clue: It's actually two words that make one word, whose meaning has a certain resonance to the Cuban situation.

Update II: OK, time for another clue. The one word made up of two words has a religious, or, more exactly, not religious connotation.

Update III: Once again, time for another clue: Let's just say that When I figured it out, I almost quit the crossword puzzle right then and there.

Perhaps I should give the winner a Babalu tshirt?

BINGBINGBINGBINGBINGBING!!!

We have winner!!!!

The word(s) is(are): INFIDEL

Congrats and a Babalu tshirt go out to Miguel-O-Matic!

Fidelity is 8 letters... but that's the only thing I can think of that would make you want to put down the crossword.

I'll think some more.

Close Kathy, but no Cohiba.

I might have to fork up another clue, althuogh, everything you need to get the word(s) is right there in those clues.

Ouch... yep. I'd have put the crossword down too. That one didn't even cross my mind. Good going, Miguel!

Posted by: Kathy K at June 10, 2005 06:12 PM

OK, Val. Now tell us what you REALLY did with the crossword puzzle when you figured that out ;->.

Posted by: Miguel-O-Matic at June 10, 2005 06:15 PM

Jeez. "'Many Cubans put their trust' In Fidel."

Don't you just love the Miami Herald. As I once told a telemarketer who called asking me subscribe to that august publication, "I'm sorry. I don't own a bird. There's no reason for me subscribe." To say it went over her head would be an understatement.

I saw on the televised news this evening (Telemundo - Miami), the U.S. government released documents that purport Luis Posada Carriles discussing an act similar to the Venezulan aircraft incident prior to its occurance. A copy of this document appears on the National Security Archive web site. http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/

While he is in U.S. custody, seeking asylum, why would they want to assist in releasing information that could potentially harm him even if the even if the ascribed excerpt in the document does not bear any significance?

It appears as if they are preparing to throw him over board.

It is likely that Venezuelan despot Chavez spends a lot of time 'in fidel', if you know what I mean.
