My apologies to the English-language readers of this blog, but I received this poem in my inbox this morning and had to share it. I do not who wrote but they should get a poetry prize!
¡QUE EN CUBA NO FALTA NADA!ERA LA ISLA MÁS BELLA
DESCUBIERTA POR COLÓN Y
LLEGO ESTE MARICÓN
E HIZO MIERDA CON ELLA
SE ACABO LA MORTADELLA,
LA MALTA, LA CONDENSADA,
EL QUESO, LA JAMONADA,
EL DULCE Y EL SALCHICHÓN.
Y DICE ESTE MARICÓN.
¡QUE EN CUBA NO FALTA NADA!YA NO HAY TOMATES, NI AJÍ,
NA HAY PAPA, FALTA EL CAFÉ,
NO HAY AZÚCAR, NO HAY PANQUE,
YA NO SE COME EL CONGRÍ
NO HAY QUIN CHUPE UN PIRULÍ,
NO HAY AJIACO, NO HAY FABADA,
YA NO HAY CARNE ENTOMATADA,
NO HAY NÍSPEROS NI HAY ANÓN.
Y DICE ESTE MARICÓN...
¡QUE EN CUBA NO FALTA NADA!NO HAY ESPECIES, NO HAY COMINO,
FALTA LA SAL, NO HAY TOSTADAS,
YA NADIE COME ENSALADA,
NO HAY CEBOLLAS, NO HAY TOCINO.
NO HAY CERVEZA, RON, NI VINO
NO HAY GARBANZOS, NI EMPANADA,
SE ACABO LA LIMONADA,
EL MANGO, PIÑA Y MELÓN.
Y DICE ESTE MARICÓN...
¡QUE EN CUBA NO FALTA NADA!SE ACABARON LAS TORTILLAS,
FALTA EL PAN Y LAS GALLETAS,
Y AQUELLAS RICAS CHULETAS.
NO HAY AJOS NI EMPANADILLAS.
NO HAY TASAJO, NO HAY MORCILLAS,
SE ACABARON LAS ASADAS,
Y AQUELLAS CARNES SALADAS
Y EL SABROCITO LECHÓN
Y DICE ESTE MARICÓN...
¡QUE EN CUBA NO FALTA NADA!CUARENTA Y CINCO AÑOS FATALES
SIN ARROZ NI BACALAO,
YA NO HAY "COQUITO QUEMAO"
NO HAY MANTECA NI TAMALES.
SE ACABARON LOS PAÑALES,
LAS PATICAS REBOZADAS,
LAS CREMAS AZUCARADAS
QUE NO ADMITIAN DISPUTA.
Y DICE ESTE HIJO DE PUTA.
¡QUE EN CUBA NO FALTA NADA!YA NO SE VEN GOLOSINAS,
NA HAY PANQUECAS NI FRIJOL,
NO HAY VINAGRE, NO HAY ALCOHOL,
NO HAY ACEITE, NO HAY SARDINAS.
SE HA ACABADO HASTA LA HARINA,
QUE LA DABAN REGALADA.
Y LA CARNE RACIONADA
EN TODITA LA NACIÓN.
Y DICE ESTE MARICÓN...
¡QUE EN CUBA NO FALTA NADA!NO HAY VERGUENZA, NO HAY HONOR,
NO HAY VIRTUD, NI SENSATEZ,
NO HAY RESPETO NI HONRADEZ,
NI ESCRÚPULO NI PUDOR.
NI ALIVIO PARA EL DOLOR
DE MI PATRIA ATORMENTADA,
ESTA CUBA ACORRALDA
LLENA DE DESILUSIÓNY DICE ESTE MARICÓN
¡QUE EN CUBA NO FALTA NADA!Y DIGO YO, CON CARIÑO:
AMIGO VENEZOLANO,
PUEBLO HERMANO, GENTE AMENA
CUIDADO CON EL CUBANO
DE LA BARBA Y LA GORRITA,
QUE SI LO DEJAS, TE QUITA
EL PETROLEO, EL GAS METANO,
TODO EL HIERRO, LA BAUXITA,
Y HASTA LA AREPA RELLENA.
Y QUIERE PAGAR LA MANO
DE LO QUE SE LLEVA AHORITA,
CON UN DISCURSO EN CADENA,
Y UN LORO VENEZOLANO

This is an old Salsa song called "En Cuba No Falta Nada. I have it on CD. Hector Tricoche sings it but it was originally sung by someone else and for the life of me I can't rememer who. I will research it and post the results. There is also a sensored version that says "Tabacon" instead of "Maricon".

Candy, how old can the song be if it refers obliquely to Chavez as the "loro venezolano"? Or have the lyrics been changed? Let me know and I'll update the post with a hat-tip to you.

It appears that everything that it mentions about Venezuela has been added. My cd is about 6 years old and it's a "greatest hits" CD so I'm assuming that the song is from before then.

The only info I found is that another salsa singer, Tommy Olivencia, has this song on his CD back in 1998 and the name of the song is "El Del Tabacon" and Hector's version came out in 95' but I'm 99.9% sure that it someone else sang it before Hector Tricoche. I'd like to send you an e-mail about some other interesting info about. Can I do that?

I recall the song, from as early as the 80s I believe.

Was it a song originally sung by Willy Chirino?
I moved to the Washington, D.C. area from Miami in 1987, and I vividly recall --a few months before I left Florida-- listening to a "cantautor" at a private party singing that very song.
In his version, he used the words "el del Tabac'on" (you see, fidel still smoked in those days). I believe the performer's name was Pedro Tamayo, though I'm relying on an increasingly weak memory.
Is there anyone in the Miami/South Florida area that has heard of Tamayo? He should be around 50-55 years old now. Is he still active in show business?

I brought this song down to Cuba on a CD.
Everybody wanted a copy, but no one was willing to play it.
Go figure !

This one's a bit dated, because it was around 1962, that is, in the early exile era (forgive the unintended alliteration) that I heard it from a good friend of the family. It will have to be posted en "Cubano" as it would not translate well into English:
"En tiempos del Batistato,
me dijo un rebelde un dia,
que si Batista caia,
andaba un mes sin zapatos.
Al fin se cayo el ingrato,
injusto, asesino y cruel,
y el mismo rebelde aquel,
hoy me dijo:
'Compañero! Voy a andar un año en cueros,
cuando se caiga Fidel!'
"Llamo el comunista Herrera
al moreno Juan Castillo,
y con la hoz y el martillo,
le regalo una bandera.
Y el negro dijo: 'carajo! Ni la subo,
ni la bajo. Ni la quito, ni la pongo.
Lumumba lo hizo en el Congo,
y se jodio por guanajo!'
Hoy sali a buscar boniato,
