Why the left has zero credibility (UPDATED)

It seems that the infamous Downing Street memos -- documents that are alledgedly the smoking gun proving that Bush and Blair knew there were no WMDs in Iraq -- may be fakes:

The eight memos — all labeled “secret” or “confidential” — were first obtained by British reporter Michael Smith, who has written about them in The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Times.

Smith told AP he protected the identity of the source he had obtained the documents from by typing copies of them on plain paper and destroying the originals. [my emphasis]

"Destroying the originals"?! Why on earth would you do that, Mike? Could it be that the originals didn't really say what you said they said? Besides, without the originals, the memos have ZERO value in proving anything. Ask Dan Rather, Mike. He might tell you a thing or two about that.

How can we believe a single syllable coing out of any of the journalistic organs of the left when fabrications, lies, and outright fraud seem to be the norm? You can easily apply this mindset to other organizations (such as Amnesty International) that have an agenda to push.

And did you read about the "insurgents" (terrorists, in plain English, insurgents in NewYorkTimese) torture houses in Iraq? Where's the gulag label when one really needs it?
Who's liberating those people? The GIs, but the only thing when you read torture and Iraq and GIs in the same sentence is Gtmo and Abu Ghraib.
It's so bad that it made to today's NYTimes.

A TYPING WHIZ

For someone to sit down and retype 8 & 12 page notes is indeed a chore, even for a good typist, so copying or scanning seems the best alternative. To take any other route speaks more of someone writing their own story, composing their own handiwork, than a reporter (most of whom seem to be lousey typists today).

This guy seems too convenient to believe; it bears more of the Jason Blair type imprint than anything else, just typing and thinking up the story as he went along. Michael Smith should know, if he has 1/10th of an ounce of brains, that whatever he writes about a situation like this, he will be called upon for proof, so destroying the originals is patently ridiculous.
He should switch to the N.Y. Times as quickly as possible, where his type of journalism will be in demand.

Fake memos and crying "hitler!". So pathetic.

KillCastro, based on their recent articles and scoops, the Enquirer appears to have higher journalistic standards than most of the MSM, here or in Britain...

Fake, yes. But accurate. Or something like that.

So the reporter types out the memos in their entirety. And destroys the original documents. Can't those originals validate the reporter's story, I hear you ask? Well yes, I suppose they could have. I guess that means we can only take the reporter's word that the memos are accurate and this story isn't a complete sham.

Oh wait, he had to protect his source. Nobody's going to believe that, you say? This newspaper's editor has. And so has any group or organisation with an anti-American agenda. Says a lot about these people, doesn't it?

the article doesn't seem to make such a big deal about this. it would seem to me that this would be quite a bombshell to this whole story.

Liable in the UK ( sounds like a good title for a post-punk album eh? ) is almost impossible to prove and if you go after them it will cost you a fortune. What amazes me is that ANYONE would read THAT garbage and even considered it NEWS ...!
Let's go into my "kill the cultist" scenario room once more shall we..

Congress: President Bush , you said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq
Bush : Hmmm .. YEAH
Congress: Well where are they ??
Bush : Hmm.. YES ! we found them . HELL they were ALL over the fucking place I mean UP to the rafters, They had WMD up the fucking goats asses, I swear (raises right hand) but .. we had to destroyed them for the sake of the children
Congress: what children??
Bush : Hmmm the soldiers children , exposure to that shit for more than 20 seconds makes you steril and turns your gonads into tiny prunes. You also develop man-boobs , not pretty.

Congress: So you have any proof of this .
Bush : oh Sure , heres this "memo" Condi typed this morning - please get a copy pass around and take a look, but I gotta dash fellas , cause it's time for din-din.
Congress: Thank you Mr. Bush
Bush : anytime ya guys , say hello to the family.

Let see the headlines on the New York Times the next day !

Killcastro, that was good. Maybe what we need is a Cuban American Rap group. Throwing down all the shit about cagastro and his collaborators. I'd love to hear the one where che squeals like a pig begging for his miserable life. Sorry, feeling frustrated and pissed here. And no CB not like that Italian asshole inferred either.

And once more for the leftards... a swing and a miss.

I have a memo written on the back of a napkin from a strip club in Tijuana that says Bill Clinton liked the midget and wanted her to come up to his room with her burro later. There are water stains, but you can just make out where it says "bring your sweet little ass up to my room". Honest, it's all true.
