No cellphones for you!
Venezuelan blogger Tomas Sancio has a link to a Univision audio of a conversation between a Cuban telephone operator and a Cuban in Miami who's seeking a Cuban cellphone. There aren't any cellphones issued in Cuba without government permission, she tells the man. He asks her if it was his fault that he was born Cuban?
Tomas's link is here, and if you can understand Spanish, the actual audio is here.

This conversation between the cell phone sales rep and a Cuban was a prank played on the cell phone company by a radio station in Miami. It is just another one of those things they get away with in Cuba which baffles me as to why the world continues to let Fidel have free reign. If you can understand Spanish it is a must listen. The final line is classic and the entire conversation is unbelievable.

This is too funny. Someone sent it to me about a month ago. I think the joke is actually made by Los Fonomemecos. But nothing like the phone call between Chavez and Cacastro by those Miami guys! That was just hilarious! The FCC ruled against it (because of the beautiful words our comandante used at the end) and they took it out of the website but there are some places where you can still get it!

that call to fidel was priceless (well, it actually cost like $4000) but i took a copy of it back to brasil and i got these guys to play it on a small station there and they loved it.. people were stopping me on the streets for weeks asking to explain it all to them and to get copies of it.. if you want to hear it its on this site:

Thank God we have a sense of humor, because this is really very sad. The government is saying that Cubans are inferior to foreigners and can't be trusted, unless they are somehow exalted by castor’s goons and become accomplices to the tyranny. Hopefully, the woman who answered the phone will be vexed by the conversation and it makes her think, that maybe things need to change.

Oh I'm sure she knows how absurd that rule is, just like everything in Cuba. I'm sure he made her feel like crap!

OT: Rumor has it that Castro is arriving in Caracas this afternoon (at about 5PM) to be honored by Chavez, who allegedly is giving him the honorary title(??) of General-in-Chief of the Venezuelan Army. This year's graduating class in the Venezuelan military school has been named after him, someting like "Promocion de cadetes Fidel Castro." The young officers will be given a paid vacation in Cuba and a new car as a thank you for naming Castro as their "padrino." Rumor has it too that some cadettes, who opposed such thing, were sanctioned (and no car, no vacation in Cuba).

That clip is from the Fonomemecos program on Salsa 98.3 FM in Miami. They had a series of calls to different businesses in Cuba and they always ended the call with "It's not my fault I was born in Cuba!" They also called a car rental company asking to rent a car so they can ram it through an embassy's wall to get in and request political asylum. They have a morning show you can listen to live on the internet every morning from 6-10AM.

"The government is saying that Cubans are inferior to foreigners "
No wait it is WORSE than that!
You know the reason why a Cuban is not allowed in a foreigners hotel? Cause they may STEAL something..!!!
So there I am arguing with this prick that THIS is MY family who stayed behind , (a few cousins and I were trying to get in my room at El Comodoro) who actually have WORKED for this shit you call revolution , that I am the gusano who left !. Still “sorry SIR there’s no Cubans citizens allowed”
So I open my passport and I have visas and entry stamps from half the god damn world and I say to this asshole” You see THIS? , NEVER EVER in ANY of these countries , has a national been prohibited to enter my personal room in a Hotel”
His answer, “Well SIR perhaps we care more about your security “
So the NEW man KaSStro promised apparently turned out to be all whores and thives.
