Babaluuuuuu, Babaluuuuuu

The first entries on Babalu Blog were published two years ago today. Much has been written here about Cuba and her politics and her culture in that time frame. I dont know if the words published here have had much of an impact in the greater scheme of things, but I do hope that they have reached a few people and I pray they have possibly enlightened some to the onus of being Cuban.

Thanks to my fellow bloggers for their support and guidance and above all thanks to you guys that come here everyday to listen to what I have to say.

Not much has changed in Cuba these past two years, but we still have one thing:

esperanzacuba copy.jpg
HOPE

The photo above is of a good friend of mine who is a staunch advocate for the freedom of Cuba. Gracias for posing for the picture, Frank.

"...but I do hope that they have reached a few people and I pray they have possibly enlightened some to the onus of being Cuban..."

Hey - they've reached me. I know a lot more about Cuba and the Cuban community now than I did before I discovered this blog. It's entertaining as well. And I just bought the cookbook someone recommended recently. So thanks!

Congrats Val, you've done an outstanding job here for all of us. Espically those of us who knew very little of the Cuban Plight.

Posted by: River Rat at June 28, 2005 10:09 AM

Happy Anniversary.

Your blog has taught me much about the real state of Cuba, and I knew quite a bit already.

One day, Cuba will be free, and people like you and me will be able to go and piss on Castro's grave.

Posted by: Tex at June 28, 2005 10:19 AM

This blog has most certainly reached me and I'm so happy that I've found it for it has educated me immensly on all topics concerning Cuba. On this blog I've gotten enough amunition to allow me to mandar pal' carajo whomever makes a stupid comment concerning lifting the embargo or tourism in Cuba. Val, your blog has made me laugh and cry while keeping in mind that one day "Cuba Libre" will be more than just a hope but a reality. Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!

Posted by: Candy at June 28, 2005 10:28 AM

I am proud to call Val my friend. He is a daily source of inspiration and right-thinking that is sorely needed in today's world. I am deeply honored -- and indebeted to him -- to be permitted to post on this great blog; a blog that on a daily basis does so much for the cause of Cuba and its liberty.

Val, my most fervent hope is that through your work here you can inspire the people on island to believe that we who are in exile are truly their brothers and sisters and wish for nothing less than their liberation from evil and oppression.

¡Feliz aniversario!

Happy Aniversary!
Even though I'm a new babalua I would like to say I'm very happy I found this blog, because it makes me realize we are all one, even though we have been extensively spreaded out during these years of tirany.
I hope next Aniversary we will be talking about Cuba's cagastrofe in past tense.

Dear Valbalu,
Allow me to add my belated BEST WISHES for a most happy "blogianiversario"!!!
You are doing a GREAT job on behalf of Cuba and the causes of freedom and human dignity, and I, for one, feel that my sagging spirits have been tremendously refreshed and stimulated when I learned about Babalublog.com --and I thank you *desde el fondo de mi coraz'on* for allowing me to be a small part of it.
Gracias, hermano.
Let us keep it up, until "la bestia de Bir'an" is no longer, and then... we can all start to collaborate with a blog about the reconstruction.
Y que viva la esperanza!

2 years go fast when one is having fun! and I notice that the tatoo is appropirately placed on the left arm...

I do not know if indeed you should be congratulated for your work since you might still be slaving at it for a while. At least we have the hope that it will not last forever as the old goat should kick that bucket anytime soon now...

un abrazo!

LO MEJOR PARA TI Y PARA TODOS ESTOS CUBANOS UNIDOS POR LA CAUSA DE CUBA!!
Val
A few months as you know I was in a sad situation looking for support to boycott a "Vacation" trip the wealthy donors of the Orthodox Church and the Mission Center were planning to take to Cuba.
I sent emails and letters to hundreds of organizations asking for support, Babalu and Paxety were the first ones to say PRESENTE!! I will always be thankful to you and your readers for all the support I received and all the waves we created! The trip was a total FIASCO!!!
You have no idea how much this blog has influenced me and people I know who are reading your blog daily. You are educating us on the issues of Cuba, the embargo and so much more!!
I am honored to have found you and your readers, your dignity, honesty and integrity makes me proud to call myself a BABALUCTORA~!~
Gracias Hermano!!
You have made me cry, laugh and become more aware of what is happening in our Island.
Que Dios te conceda mucha salud y suerte para que algun un dia podamos reunirnos en nuestra Cuba que nunca morira mientras tengamos a alguien como tu al frente!
Saludos
Carmen
