Her name is Maria Corina Machado and Hugo Chavez is trying to throw her in jail for 'treason.' Her hearing starts today. What is at stake and why she is like Martha Beatriz Roque, who organized Cuba's Civil Society democrats, is in this Investor's Business Daily editorial here.

Val, you know the worst part?, that he committed the very same crime he is accusing her of: he received a vast amount of money (some million of US$) for his campaign from a spanish bank when he was running for president back in 1998, when the venezuelan law (now and then) forbids candidates of any kind to receive contributions from foreign companies. And to add injury to insult, the current president of the National Assembly, Nicolas Maduro, has received money from the National Endowment for Democracy. Pretty stuff, ins't it?

Not only that - he forked over $10 million for Lula's presidential campaign, if that isn't meddling what is? I saw it on Alek Boyd's Web site here: http://www.vcrisis.com
