Let there be light!

I can live drinking water without ice. I can live without tv. I can live without the computer, the internet and dare I say the blog. I can live by candlelight.

But I cannot live without air conditioning!

The worst thing about power outages is the lack of cool air in your home.

Val,
Dumb question, but I am new. Does the name Babalu in your case come from santeria or is it a play on Ricky Ricardo? Just curious.

I can only imagine. The edges of Ivan knocked my power out for a few hours, and life in Florida without A/C is fucking miserable.

God bless you, Mr. Carrier: it's an underrated invention we only truly appreciate when it's gone.

My Dad lives near Bird and 127th Avenue and has been without power for 24 hours now.

Fortunately, I only lost power for a minute last night when the first big squall blew through.

God bless underground power lines!

I was without power last last night and it was miserable. I can only imagine what it's like in Cuba where there is no power to even operate a fan for periods of 12-16 hours per day, every day.

Ouch.

We were only out for like an hour or two, maybe closer to two. But it was only on my block, there were lights on in the next block and I was sure they were doing it to me intentionally!

Out of power since friday night (missed me, right?). It was just like Cuba. Opened all the windows to let the breeze through. Plus I couldn't call my sister in Cuba to get news of her (thanks a lot Sprint PCS!). My mom started getting neurotic and everything. She tought the FPL guys weren't going to come until Monday. Total recall.

It is called a generator. They come in many different models and are all 100 % not Castro approved. Wanna bet he's got one?
