Going to Cuba?

Bring Kotex!

CIENFUEGOS, Cuba - July 12 (Luis Miguel González, Cubanacán Press / www.cubanet.org) - There has been a shortage of sanitary napkins at local drug stores for the past three months.

Aida Rivero, a clerk at the "Tulipán" pharmacy, said that customers have been forced to use rags or pillow stuffing.

Sanitary napkins are available at dollar stores but at an elevated price.

Said frustrated customer Maritza Sánchez, "The health of the people doesn't matter to the government, just the image it projects to the world of a medical power."

I think you're supposed to take a rice cooker and hang it between your legs as a catch basin.

The hijo de puta will probably boast of this as one of his environmental reforms. Think of the saved materials. Rags ladies, just as our great Grandmothers used, can you imagine?

Just imagine Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore who are so eco-friendly! They would just love it!

I came about this site while trying to find out info anbout damage after hurricane dennis.I am canadian, but have many friends in Cuba, and worry for ther safety. This was a great way to leasrn so much first hand information about where the damage hit. Most coverage I saw here on the news was about Florida of course.
The bit about the kotex really caught my eye though, it is always one of the things I bring in mass amounts to give to my friends there. What else would be good to bring. I usually have first aid items, deoderant and razors, tylenol, but I am wondering if there are things they would prefer, but might be too polite to ask for. Any thought?
