Irony, revisited
Since the two main topics of discussion throughout the blogosphere lately and for the upcoming days will be the Plame Affair and the nomination of Roberts to the SCOTUS, and as such, they have been and will be covered ad infinitum by many whose understanding and knowledge of these is much greater than mine, I will not be covering those subjects and will defer to my more knowlegeable colleagues.
That said, I want to link to a previous post here on Babalu that has absolutely nothing to do with the aforementioned but will give you a little food for thought in that "Sheesh, aint that ironic" kind of way.
Back in November of 1940, a young Cuban boy wrote a letter to then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt stating the following:
If you like, give me a ten dollars bill green american . . . because never I have not seen a ten dollars bill green american and I would like to have one of them. . . .
It was sent from, again, ironically, El Colegio de Dolores in Santiago de Cuba. Ill give you one guess as to whom the sender was.
Here's a link to page one of said letter. Page two, along with the young boy's signature can be found here.
My previous post can be found here.

I used to analyze handwriting. castro's says he's a massive egomaniac, even at that age.

Wow, so he was a wheeler-dealer even at that age. I'm glad you analyzed his handwriting, Mora. Instead of "massive egomaniac" how about "massive egomaniacal psychopath"? Or can't you tell that from his handwriting?

Well I wrote (In Spanish no less) To Robert Kennedy to get me into the USA when I had spent a year in Spain and had no hope of getting to the States. I think my letter to him went something like "Your brother sold us out to Russia so it is YOUR duty, to get ME and my family to the USA"
The man actually wrote back that he WOULD intercede, not only that but wrote directly to the USA ambassador in Madrid. I was given an “audience” with the gentleman who asked me if there would be people in the USA who could care for me; I said YES I had friends.
Less than 3 weeks later I had my residency.
My last letter from Robert Kennedy arrived in Spain after I had already left for the USA and wished me the best in my new country, and offered “if you need anything else, please write to me”
I arrived in the USA March 20 1968. The forwarded letter reached me June 10 1968, five days after his death..
I still have the letters and sometimes I look at them and I just can not believe the things that a 14 year old with a loose nut can actually accomplish.
