Ya No Mas!
It seems George's Ya No Mas! meme may be becoming a reality in Cuba sooner than we all thought. (Incidentally, George, who as of last night was still without power or phone courtesy of hurricane Katrina, may be doing a little Ya No mas! screaming of his own. Hope you get your A/C back soon George.)

CAIBARIÉN, Cuba, August 29 (María de la Caridad Noa González, Villa Blanca Press / www.cubanet.org) - A six-foot sign that read DOWN WITH FIDEL CASTRO! was put up on the wall of the food store La Vizcaína in the city of Sancti Spíritus.Yusdrey Pérez Toledo, a passerby, reported that state security on Tuesday forced those who stopped to see the sign to move out of the area.

Good for Sancti Spiritus!! Has any of you been there??? When I visited Cuba for the first time in 1999, I went to Sti Spiritus where we have relatives still living there,while visiting the area, I stopped at the Cemetery (my mother's request since there were rumors that tombs were being "raped" to get jewelry, gold, anything of value from the departed)
I noticed that in the very back of the cemetery was some kind of a "modern" monument-like structure, I decided to check it out, took my video camera and immediately, a guard came out and asked me why I was filming...I told him I was just curious, he became very upset and asked me to give him the film in the camera! Immediately workers from the cemetery started screaming in protest, asking him to leave me alone and to let me go!! which surprised me a bit, considering how "hush-hush" everything was up until then!!
I also saw a painted sign that said NO FIDEL!! so I guess these people are truly fed up and saying
!! YA NO MAS!! and !!ABOUT TIME!!!
