Zapatero and castro
The noisome, irresponsible, ridiculous Spanish Prime Minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, who's done everything leftwing that he can think of, now all of a sudden says he has no interest in meeting castro. I guess he got a phone call from Washington, or has decided he wants something from us. He reeks of insincerity:
EFE reports here:
Spanish P.M. says he's never had interest in meeting Castro

Madrid, Oct 16 (EFE).- Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said in a wide-ranging radio interview Sunday that he has never had an interest in meeting Cuban President Fidel Castro.
"I have never had either the passion, or the interest, or the circumstances of meeting him, it's very curious, I guess these are the necessary paradoxes that lead one to be prime minister of the government," Zapatero said.
The Spanish leader said the just-concluded Ibero-American in Salamanca was a "success." Zapatero, a critic of U.S. policy in Iraq, told Cadena Ser there had been no new developments in his relations with U.S. President George W. Bush.
He also said he looked forward to having good relations with the new German chancellor, Angela Merkel.
As far as Castro, who did not attend the summit, was concerned, Zapatero expressed surprise at those who said that "photos were taken, ties exchanged and jokes made about Castro." The Spanish leader said the summit, whose value was questioned by some leaders last week, was useful, especially if there was "content and plans of action were approved." EFE msr/hv
Three points: One, get that 'necessary paradoxes' - spoken like a true French poodle cafe intellectual! What a dork. What is he actually saying? Let me deconstruct this for you, bug-eyes: He's saying that because he never wanted to meet castro, he ended up wanting to be prime minister. He actually equates MEETING CASTRO with being prime minister! I think this guy is a little cockroach.
Two: Jokes were made about castro? And Zapatero didn't seem to like them? Who was telling them? Apparently everyone was, with the exception of Zapatero and Chavez. Maybe even Chavez. And for heavensakes, tell us the jokes!
Three: About that content and plans of action: Any word, Zappy, about castro's free and fair elections he agreed to hold? He signed on the dotted line, multiple times. You haven't followed up. Well, why not?

Castro did not need to attend the Ibero-American summit because they voted on behalf of his interests without his presence.
All of the chiefs of state attending the summit voted unanimously for Cuba's resolutions condemning the U.S. "blockade" of Cuba and demanding the extradition of Luis Posada to Venezuela.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Madrid had a lame response and the White House was asleep as usual in responding to Cuba's rhetoric.
The U.S. could have presented a motion condemning Cuba for harboring terrorist fugitives, but once again failed to do so. To quote Missy Elliott: "Why you act dumb like big duh."
Castro has not gone to an Iberoamerican summit since 2000 in Panama, when Luis Posada, Guillermo Novo, Pedro Remon and Gaspar Jimenez were arrested for trying to kill him.

True enough, Professor. But I find Zapatero's babblings nevertheless strange.

Mora,
He reminds me of the old Cuban saying: "Zapatero, a tus zapatos."
