Val has MRI Open Thread
Im having an MRI done today and will be out most of the rest of the day. I've never posted an open thread here before, so this is brand spanking new. Use this thread to post any interesting news items, blog posts, whatever.
Both Babalu and The Real Cuba are getting our asses handed to us on a platter in the Weblog Awards. The Devil's Excrement - and excellent blog in its own right - has taken a solid lead. I'm not gonna ask for any more votes as this blog gets about 1500 unique visitors as day and has only mustered up close to 800 votes in a week. So, it seems like an effort in futility at this point.
Have a great day folks and please, dont make a mess.

Good luck with the MRI, Val. Be well.

If you can, take some earplugs to the MRI - those suckers are noisy.

Good luck Val! I hate having to go to the doctor's, hospital, dentist...anything of that nature.
What are they trying to diagnose?

Somebody pass me a Hatuey and some empanadas! Are we allowed to smoke in this thread?
Posted by: j.scott barnard at December 13, 2005 09:51 AM
Scott, IMHO Cerveza Tropical is better. Light up a Fuentes y Fuentes Opus X, while you're at it...

For our Jewish compadres out there, I present the perfect Hannukah or Christmas present...

Too funny George! Ok, where's the Bacardi?
Posted by: ziva at December 13, 2005 11:31 AM
You know, I like rum -- Bacardi Aņejo or Black is excellent stuff -- but I am a bourbon drinker through and through, preferably Maker's Mark or any fine single-barrel Kentucky mash whiskey. I know it is heresy for a Cuban to announce that, but forty-five years in the US begins to influence you in oh so subtle ways...

where are the chicharones?
Posted by: daniel at December 13, 2005 11:48 AM
The blog Devil's Excrement got yesterday the support of Noticiero Digital ... that's the reason of it's vote growing in just a day

George, you're forgiven, it just means more of the good stuff for the rest of us and, music, please someone crank up the volume!

yummy, rum, chicharrones....now if I could only get rid of the 9degree weather, maybe I could imagine I was back in Miami....Val, I hope it was an open MRI 'cause those things are tight. George, lol on the jewish gift!

Cerveza Tropical certainly LOOKS good. I'll have to try one. Thanks. Did Val say whether we could use the pool?
Posted by: j.scott barnard at December 13, 2005 01:22 PM
Val - you'll be allright - just think of it as "going tubin'." Except no cerveza allowed.
Posted by: Alberto Quiroga at December 13, 2005 02:09 PM
I recommend showing up drunk.
Good luck! I hope they figure out your problem so it will stop interfering with drinking and pig consumption.

Babalu and the Real Cuba blogs were mentioned today in Radio Mambi - Enrique Encinosa asked people to vote for either blog. Let's see if that will bring in some votes.
