It's Beisbol, Wayne
Staying true to his castro-apologist form, Wayne Smith once again opts to miss the point entirely with this piece from the Baltimore Sun. Do read the whole thing and find one mention, just one, of the Cuban people.
His rhetoric is as stale as week old pan cubano and follows the same tired old propaganda bullet points that every single castro apologist signs on to.
Because, you see, according to Wayne, its all about America, Americans and baseball. The Cuban people are but an afterthought, if that.
Hat tip Mike Pancier.

Coño, Val - pobrecito el pan cubano. I think a better comparison, and one which fits Waynie's image better is that "his rhetoric is as stale as rancid Manteca El Cochinito." That's "El Cochinito (The Little Pig)" brand lard, for you, my Americano compatriotas.

Wayne's as stale as the cardboard food substitute that castro forces Cubans to stand in line for. Smith expects us all to just eat it.

BTW, have you taken a look lately at the Sun Sentinel's poll asking if the Bush administration should modify its position and allow a team of slaves from Cuba to come here to play?
When we first mentioned this poll last week here at Babalu and at therealcuba.com asking people to vote NO, the 'yes' were way ahead.
Now the "No" votes are ahead by 26% and close to 3,000 votes!
Good job guys and gals! :)

his comments are as stale as arroz con hoja de platano (the common substitute for arroz con picadillo for the majority of islanders can't even get ground meat)

For the life of me, I cannot understand why Wayne Smith persists in "playing ball with the wrong Cuban team" --i.e., the bloody dictadorzuelo and his band of deleznables.
It seems to me that Smith would find it far, far more profitable (and morally justifiable) to play with the team of Free Cubans --those outside the island-prison, a team that has about two million members on a roster estimated to be much wealthier than their counterparts, the 11 (eleven!!!) million countrymen unfortunate enough to continue to reside in the Large Caribbean Jail --simply because those outside can play by fair rules where enterprise, persistence and ingenuity are rewarded, while those inside... can't, because of the dictates of that aging, slowly-but-surely disintegrating tyrant.
Go figure.
At least we know that Father Time is on our side, because sooner or later, el apestoso will suffer one more, and final, fall. As the Beatles used to sing: Let it be, let it be, let it be...

can anyone post or email me the article? It requires registration, and I'm not keen on registering my email around. Thanks!

Have you all noticed how Wayne Smith re-surfaces every once in a while? Back in the 80's and early 90's, Smith was EVERYWHERE. Any time any discussion program needed a so-called Cuba expert, Smith was there! Then all of a sudden, he sort of disappeared. Well, not quiet disappeared but lowered his profile. Now he is trying to make a comeback and I say this because of a few editorials lately that I've seen attributed to him .
Castro has minions all over and I read somewhere that he uses them until they get too much overexposure [at which time it becomes evident to the world that they are nothing more than Castro lackeys] at which point they become useless to him, and then he goes to off to some new minion. Remember Magda Montiel? He used her like an orange [or should I say lemon?] and when he got all of the juice that he could from her, he threw out the dried insides.
Perhaps Smith has more juice inside him than Montiel and Castro feels that he can still get more mileage out of that big-headed creature??

Just read the story, and this guy is a perfect idiot. People just want to miss the point.

Unfortunately, Wayne Smith can not be dismissed as an idiot. He knows perfectly well what he is doing. And, Ray, he probably has a lot of juice left in him, since, believe it or not, he served as Chief of the U.S. Interests Section (no, that's not a typo) in Cuba under Jimmy Carter. He subsequently resigned the post in disagreement over Reagan's less moderate approach to dealing with commie bastards. With such credentials, you can bet Dr. Smith will continue to be a fixture in the MSM circuit. If I had a dollar for every occasion I have barfed when watching this SOB spread cagastro's propaganda, I would be rich by now...

Ok, I recant my opinion, the guy is not an idiot es un hijo de puta

As expected,to add to the pile of propaganda bullshit, chavez is of course offering to host some of the games so Cuba can participate.

Being that he started as a vice consul in Santiago,in the late 50s, where along with
the two other consular officials, both CIA
did everything possible to facilitate Castro's
campaign. He's just looking after his investment,
so to speak
