El mulo and the Mullahs

More on Iran/Cuba relations:

Cuba is not alone in the Americas: Rafsanjani

TEHRAN, Jan. 2 (MNA) -- In a meeting with the Cuban Ambassador to Tehran Fernando N. Garcia here on Monday, Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said that people in Latin America are regaining their previous anti-imperialistic spirit, so Cuba is not alone any longer in the American continent.

He described the recent wave of anti-U.S. developments in Latin America as a sign of the revolutionary spirit of the region’s people challenging the global arrogance.

Rafsanjani stated that Iran and Cuba pursue independent foreign policies, which has led to an expansion of ties, adding that cooperation between the two countries in international fora and organizations can act as a determining instrument in countering the unilateral stances adopted by major powers.

Referring to Iran’s technical and industrial capabilities, the EC chairman said that the Islamic Republic can play a significant role in meeting the demands of Cuba and other Latin American countries, especially in the industrial, technical and engineering spheres.

For his part, Garcia said that Cuba would support Iran’s right to develop a peaceful nuclear program.

The ambassador said the two countries enjoy ample potential for expanding ties, noting that pressure on Tehran and Havana by major powers, especially by the United States, would positively affect Iran-Cuba ties.

The world just gets scarier and scarier.

Since I can't post anything on my site yet this morning - the site won't allow ftp to log in for some reason - I'll repeat here what I said in my post that's not posted yet - what cultural values do fidel and the mullahs share? Hatred of the US is the only thing I can think of.

With Iran developing nukes and having already bought missiles, I suspect fidel is salivating over the idea of restocking those old Russian missile bases and starting a new Cuban missile crisis.

This probably won't help the debate but... the defeat of the Persians by Macedonians was a hoax. And if the Greeks felt guilty for this, er, hoax, they should have set up the Iranians in Athens!

And the Bush adminstration continues not confronting head-on the issue of illegal immigration, which is a major worry for us in the Western USA. Imagine Rafsanjani agents (not necessarily Iranian, but trained Latinamericans will do)slipping through the border with weapons capable of mass destruction and loss of lives. All you need is one!

The USA is all gung ho on naming Iran and N. Korea as axis of evil / terror nations - which Cuba is one - but the USA NEEDS to designate MORE the fact that CUBA is in that group.

The Media never says that Cuba is an axis of evil nation.

Juan:
You read my mind. I only see another Cuban missile crisis too... except that this time, el regimen won't be allowed to survive like the last time.

Val: Not so much scarier as predictable. So it's time for us to keep a very close eye on Latin America and support our allies. Keep the enemies off balance.

Siempre he dicho que existe un eje islamico-izquierdista extremista, y esta noticia es una demostraciòn màs de que lo que se repite hace tiempo: los extremistas de todos los colores politicos son totalitarios, y como tal son amigos y trabajan juntos

How long have we all been saying that Uncle Sam is wearing blinders when it comes to the threat posed by Cuba? I hope we don't have to wait for WMD pointed at Miami for action. Scary indeed.

A second missile crisis may be just what we need to get rid of the senile beast, instead of waiting for natural death.

Pray Pentagon target planners have already placed Iranian nuclear and military sites on the crosshairs, as well as feedeleto's "punto cero." Aptly named, by the way. "Never a hero, always a cero." Let's see, when the chips are down, how many rats are really going to "volunteer" and go down with coma-andante cero.

Don't worry about it, when he dies maybe Cuba should become the 51st state or an American protectorate, if America's learned its lesson from 1962.

I've already told my husband we might be flying to Cuba to gamble before we die, something we'd never thought we'd be able to do.

They've lost almost 50 years, the Cubans have a lot of time to make up for, we the Cubans here have the money.

This Cuba/Iran partnership is hardly a breaking news story .. and yet I've heard nothing in the mainstream media. Cuba stands to gain precious oil from this alliance. The only thing Cuba could possibly offer is 'location! location! location!' .

Just as Mussolini and Hitler became great friends, so the Islamofascists of Iran and the Despot of Cuba find great common cause.
Trust me that already Islamofascists are active in Vz., Co., and of course Cuba. And with their great history of opium produciton and smuggling, the the Islamofascists and the narco-commies will have a lot to offer.
Our President called it right, about everyone being on one side or the other.
Our side is a might bit more precarious than we ahve realized.
