I sounded nasally
Babalu Ace Reporter Julio Zangroniz just sent me a cassette with our Radio Mambi interview from the other day.
To be honest, when youre sitting in that little studio with all those microphones and the window looking into the sound engineer and being asked questions, you tend to get a bit nervous at first and to forget everything you said on the air.
What stuck me the most was how nasally I sounded. As if someone was standing there holding my noise when I spoke.
Still, I think we did OK for our first radio appearance and I will pick up the digital version of the radio show as soon as I get a chance and post it.
A huge thanks to Julio, my brother from another mother, for taking the time to record the show and dupe a tape for me. Gracias, Julio.

Everybody thinks they sound nasally when they hear their own voices. It's because your ears pick up your voice before it goes through your nose.

Val,
You flatter me in an incredible way, and I assure you that there's NO need for it. I'd much rather labor in anonymity, away from the glare of public attention.
You see, I had trouble removing my winter hat, after I returned home from running some errands today and read your post --a hat that was a *perfect* fit earlier in the day.
First of all, I didn't do anything that you don't fully deserve, anything that you yourself wouldn't have done for me or someone else.
In any case, you are well deserving of it, for ALL that you do for the rest of us, and for Cuba.
That's the prize... a free Cuba. The rest... matters very little.

P.S. Just today, I put the final (I hope!) touches on the Fundraising Proposal that I'm bringing down to Florida in mid-February, so you and I can sit down and discuss every item in the proposal. I can't help but think that *good things* are coming Babalublog.com's way. Maybe they will put it in the ticker in Havana! And wait until you see the Rumbera in 20x30-inch, full-color, matted and framed, format... alabao sea Dios!
