It's Saturday, man, so most folks are away from their office computers.
But since I broke "radio silence," allow me to say, Happy Birthday, Jos'e Mart'i, Ap'ostol de la Indenpendencia de Cuba... may your teachings guide us back to democracy.
Val, why don't you post another photo (or two) of some delicacy you guys have fixed at ManCamp, cruel though they practice is...?
Or of some outing on the Gulfstream to chase after rabirrubias or pargos... something that will help us in the snow-bound latitudes keep the faith?
Any updates on Cuba's Wall of Impotence?

P.S. Still waiting for that shipment of pastelitos...

Quiet? Esto parece un funeral.....people must be enjoying their Saturday, contrary to me, here reading and studying....

Julio, since you live somewhat on my route to and from Miami, I promise that on my next trip down, I'll bring you pastelitos on the way up. How's that? Can't give you a date though....

I can't believe it! You guys are complaining that it's quiet...I can barely keep up with you guys! This is nice...let me breathe! Actually, I can't get enough of this Cuban blogging. I've become hooked. Like somebody commented the other day, I, too, might need a 12-step program to get some other work done!

BTW, Val...have you ever thought of a podcast? I could listen to you in my car on my daily commute! Think about it.

Is there any news of the "surprise" wall/flag poles, or whatever it is? I've been searching all day. It was supposed to be ready for JM's birthday today, something Marti no doubt would despise, connecting a wall of separation to this birthday.

JSB the only thing I've read is in Kill Castro, about a march at night with torches. He also reported that portals in Cuba were down, so he wasn't getting much information.

Well I've got one news item. They closed down a "travel to Cuba" travel agency here in Miami. I've got the story at Cuban-American Pundits.

La Ventanita,
Rest assured that I will hold you to your word, because when it comes to authentic Miami pastelitos, *nothing* stands in my way.
In all honesty, it looks like I may beat you to the punch, somewhat, because I'm in the final stages of planning a two-week visit to Florida (and Miami, of course) in mid-February.
One of the items in my "to do" list is to get you some current images of Little Havana "ventanitas" --Versailles, Latin American Cafeteria, La Carreta, La Esquina de Tejas, etc. etc. etc. As many as I can fit into my schedule. Then you can simply rotate the image in your blog every so often.
Since I'm driving down and, hopefully, back, I also will ascertain that I bring a supply --an industrial-sized supply, as much of a load as my van allows-- of pastelitos back North with me.
All the same, I appreciate your kind offer!

Cultivo una rosa blanca
En Julio como en Enero,
Para el amigo sincero
Que me da su mano franca.

Y para el cruel que me arranca
El corazon con que vivo,
Cardo ni ortiga cultivo,
Cultivo una rosa blanca.
