Jyllands-Posten, a Danish Newspaper, published a few cartoons of Mohammed a few days ago and the extremist muslims went on a tear. If you havent been keeping up with this story, you should. Michelle Malkin has an excellent round-up.
Our friend Aaron has a great collection of Mohammed the Prophet Cartoons here.

Oh no Val! You will now get a fatwa!!!!
Honestly, I believe religions should be off limits. But as the German paper Die Welt published yesterday when a whole group of European papers published the cartoons - I would take their offense and claims seriously if they didn't consistently do the same of other religions, primarily Jews. I believe Die Welt referred to Syrian dramas were Rabbis were depicted as Cannibals. No se puede estar con Dios y con el Diablo. That said, although I can understand their offense (I would be highly offended of a derogatory cartoon of Jesus), I am glad the EU is standing up for their right of freedom of speech, giving islamofascists a lesson and a taste of their own medicine, and not allowing them to impose their religion on their secular society.

Ventanita I agree with you but when we see offensive cartoons we express that by maybe writing some letters or boycotting a product. In the case of Islam, they issue Fatwahs. If they want respect, they'll have to reform and treat the rest of the world accordingly. And watch out Val, remember Rushdie?

if I aint afraid of fidelito, I sure as hell aint going to be afraid of a couple of fucked up religious zealot freaks.

How well do you live, Victor?
Posted by: Val Prieto at February 2, 2006 01:35 PM
Folks,
I urge you to keep in mind that these cartoons make fund of the *messenger* rather than of the religion itself, or even the Supreme Being.
Islam itself points out that the messenger -- the prophet-- should not be equated with Allah, or God.
In other words, everyone should be letting these cartoons slide off their backs, like water from a duck, rather than making a mountain out of an inconsequential molehill.
In other words, if you don't like the cartoons, simply ignore them. If you do, well, God (Allah) will take care of you.

I know I'm being politically incorrect here. But, nowadays, everytime I hear someone say "Islam is the religion of Peace" I can't help but think of the classic Mel Brooks scene (I think from To Be Or Not To Be) where, dressed up as Hitler, he breaks out into a song and dance routine:
All I want is PEACE...
A little PIECE of Poland
A little PIECE of France
etc, etc, etc...

Love them Danish drawings.
The Muslims immigrate and bring their bodies to Europe while their minds remain in the 7th century middle east. They like the socialist fringe benefits AND THE WELFARE, but not the philosophical freedom that's still around, intolerant morons that they are. It serves Europe right -- they've been sleeping with enemy for decades.
And we're not too far behind; I'm still waiting for CAIR to get in front of the cameras and renounce all the crapola they're involved with.

Victor maybe you should move back to Cuba and open a restaurant there. Don't forget to take your decor with you.

But Victor, youre a fidelista by proxy! You love fidel and the revolucion, dont you? And you're living en la Yuma, the imperialist enemy's lair! Reaping the evil capitalist rewards!
Doesnt that make you...um...whats the word im looking for...um...I got it...a HYPOCRITE?
Of course it does.

The fact that these sub-human pigs get worked up over alleged desecrations of the Koran or cartoons of Muhammad shows the depth of their depravity. Remember how the Palestinians ul-ul-ul-ul (or whatever the hell they do with their tongues) when the Twin Towers came down? Who can forget the 'Allah Akbar' chants after they cut off Nick Berg's head? Or the fact that they sell these snuff films in bazaars as a point of pride. There's no difference between these animals and the animals that have destroyed my parent's homeland in Cuba except one uses God as a pretext and the other routinely murders people of faith. They have problems with the cartoons--they can go back and party like it's 999. That's right, 999. Eff 'em. In fact, Eff off and die. There's no way any of my three daughters will ever wear a hijab and subjugate themselves as something less than a dog.

mohammed says: "I demand much respect!"
Posted by: jsb at February 2, 2006 02:17 PM
One other thing--notice how the Joint Chiefs of Staff react to an offensive cartoon? They write a letter to the editor. Here are military commanders of the mightiest power on earth and their response to a truly wretched political cartoon is a letter to the editor. Compare that with the Muslim threats to kidnap and murder foreigners over these cartoons. The same people who criticize Bush and the war effort are the same people who wear "Che" t-shirts and wax eloquently about the free health care in Cuba that Val has shown us in pictures.

The MSM is cowering because the only religious group that can be belittled are Christians. The muslims are off limits because they are bloodthirsty people. Say what you want, but thats the truth.
Posted by: pototo at February 2, 2006 02:58 PM
pototo,
The Jews get their fair share of abuse as well.
Posted by: Val Prieto at February 2, 2006 03:00 PM
I think they get more than their fair share, they get abused from all angles, and unfortunately all religions - including some Christians in there as well.
Posted by: La Ventanita at February 2, 2006 03:17 PM
It's true we Jews get kicked around plenty, and the ignorance is astounding. Not long ago speaking about Passover, someone asked me where we got the blood. I was speechless. What I see in the MSM is that people of "faith” are open season for abuse, except of course the Muslims but religious Jews and Christians are ridiculed. When is the last time you saw a Priest, Minister or Rabbi portrayed on TV authentically?
Posted by: ziva at February 2, 2006 03:29 PM
Ziva, I cannot believe someone actually asked you that....I would be floored. I think if someone asked my husb that, he would probably tell them that he goes an buys a goat.

Ventanita, this came from a co-worker, he just was ignorant and didn't mean anything by it so I educated him. But I found it scary that someone believed that. I was very floored. My smart ass answer would be stay cats.

Religion is often used as a "shield" to justify actions. One can say that often times, religion has nothing to do with the fact that in this world, good people do good things and evil people do evil things ... and justify their actions in the name of their "religion".
I wish you well :) Melek

Thanks, Val. The only closely authentic portrayal of Judaism, specifically religious Judaism, is in Ushpizin.
But the Academy decided to nominate a film sympathetic to terrorists.
There is a pathology among Jews that if somehow religion would vanish then antisemitism would finally end. This results in nihilism and Spielberg and other Jews-by-birth-but-not-by-practice produce works that are antithetical to Judaism and Christianity.

Muslims have been waging war against the west since the beginning?
Are you sure you're not confusing Muslims with the Crusaders?
Or maybe you don't know enough Spanish history (as I am sure that you, being a good Miami Cuban, know a LOT of) to know that it when Spain was a Muslim country that it enjoyed unprecendented and unsurpassed years of peace and prosperity.
*Ornament of the World by Menocal is a good introduction if you REALLY want to learn about it.

Bill,
Dont you think there's a big difference between christians protesting something that offended them peacefully and muslims hurling grenades and taking over embassies and chanting death to everyone that isnt a muslim?
Seriously man, be honest with yourself.
Posted by: Val Prieto at February 3, 2006 04:39 PM
Isa, You know what? A lot of that prosperity came from from the locals and from jewish brains, stick that one up yours and think about it. As for peace? For who? Not the subjugated citizens that's for sure. Go back and read an accurate history book. And, what has any Muslim country contributed to civilization in the last 500 years? Diddly squat, that's what.
Posted by: ziva at February 3, 2006 04:52 PM
Isa, I will keep my response to your comment short since it does not merit a long answer.
It's painfully obvious for all to see from your "comment" that you have purposefully ignored the history of Muslim conquest -- from the time of Mohammed, and the first four caliphs that ruled after his death, all the way to when they were finally stopped at the Battle of Vienna in 1683 -- because of your politically correct beliefs. Your oh-so-typical statement about the Crusades proves that you're an uneducated dolt that has not read one whit of the real history of the middle ages. If you had, you would know that the Crusades -- whether right or wrong in execution by the Church -- were a direct response to Muslim conquest in the Holy Land and the spread of Islam in Christendom, especially in the Eastern Roman Empire. I can recommend books to you by Andrew Bostom, Robert Spencer, the great scholar of Islam, Bernard Lewis, and many others, but since they don't have a lot of pictures, you may not like them.
Do us all a favor: go back to your coloring books and leave the commenting to the adults. We really don't want you to make more of an ass of yourself than you already have.

Hey Victor, you're not impressing anybody here with your "Lexus" talk. As a matter of fact, the fact that you have to mention that you have an expensive SUV probably means you have a two-inch dick and have to compensate for your inferiority complex. So why don't you go into your Lexus and go fuck yourself -- if you can.

re. The Ornament of the World, por Maria Rosa Menocal:
"Menocal offers persuasive evidence that the Renaissance was strongly foreshadowed by the intellectual climate of Spain in the preceding centuries, starting in 783 with the founding of Andalusia by Abd al-Rahman, an Umayyad from Syria. The culture created was receptive to intellectual pursuits not allowed in the rest of Europe for several centuries, including the creation of impressive libraries and the study and translation of Classical authors. Menocal claims that this environment was largely a result of the tolerance shown by this ruler and his successors toward Christians and Jews and their cultures. Menocal has not given us a history book so much as a demonstration that puritanical cultures of any ilk are detrimental to the development of science, art, and literature. Her arguments are convincing even without the dark background of September 11. Recommended for all libraries."
