I hope you're all sitting down...

...because Im about to endorse a Democrat...

Via email:

I am California congresswoman Maxine Waters' challenger for the 35th California Congressional District for the 2006 election year. Waters has used her 15 years in the US Congress as a friend of Fidel Castro. Let's remove Waters from office in 2006, so you and I could oppose Castro together. Please visit www.carlmcgill.com.

Thank you,

Carl McGill for Congress
35th California Congressional District

Visit his website here and make sure you check out the Cuba link.

Im sure you all remember Maxine "Elain Gonzalez belongs with his father" Waters, dont you?

Here are some other items of interest regarding good ole Maxine and here's a letter stating she supports murderer Asata Shakur who is hiding out in Cuba.

Oh, and did I mention Maxine is a member of the Progressive Caucus, the one started by the one time leader of the Democratic Socialists of America?

I hope that all Cuban Americans put their money where where their mouth is and donate to McGill's campaign. I still remember Maxine Waters and how she took center-stage in the Elian thing, how she debated Cuban Americans on TV and how she would sneer as she lied about the situation inside Cuba. She really enjoyed her role as adversary. There was something more than just political in her actions. It was as if she depised Cuban Americans with all of her heart---for God know's what reason--and was enjoying sticking it to us at a point in our lives that we were really vulnerable. Along with Jose Serrano of the Bronx, and Charles Rangel of Harlem, Waters is the biggest enemy that we have in Congress!

I've been passing the website to some friends who are not very informed in regards to the Cuban reality -here, elsewhere, and in California, after it got a few days ago to my in-box courtesy of a cousin who lives in the West Coast. You beat me to a pulp by endorsing him first, for which I am glad. I passed it to a thicket of Cubans living in British Columbia (yeah, they are the ones who pop up in the counters from that area). They constantly travel to California and for them it has been a nice discovery.
Thanks!

Pretty interesting news; I am pretty impressed by Mr. McGill's campaign. BUT Maxine Waters has a strong backing in her community and it is going to take a really strong campaign to unseat her. Good luck to Mr. McGill! - DWR

Despite our frequent and well-deserved bashing of anything left of center, there ARE plenty of reasonable democrats out there. I wouldn't vote or endorse most of them, but they do have some ideas which deserve merit and shouldn't be ignored.

McGill is a good guy, but no chance to win in this district otherwise known as the People's Republic of California. (only Berkely and San Fran is even more lefty).

Perhaps we should try to put Rufus the award winning bulldog as a candidate...

Rufus would easily garner a lot of votes as he is clearly ten times more intelligent than Maxi. At least Rufus would bite Fidel's ass rather than kiss it.

Conductor over at Cuban American Pundits, had a post on this guy a couple of days back. My jaw dropped when I saw that not only he was a democrat, but also a black democrat. It seems some "conservative" democrats are worth it.

Did anybody watch Hannity and Colmes last night? They have congressman Diaz-Balart on talking about the 15 Cubans that got sent back...

It was refreshing to see H & C agree on something!

Ignore the brand name and check out what's inside the wrapper. I have no principles that force me to oppose Democrats, just Democrats that suck.

Zel Miller from my state is a pretty cool cat :)

I live in an adjacent district here in So. Cal. I agree with Mike, he has no chance of winning. Waters is entrenched in her district and has the big guns backing her. It's sad, she done so much damage to the community. On a side note, McGill used to be a democrat, used to be a republican. Without a doubt he would be a great replacement for castroite Waters. I would vote for him in a second.

There used to be lots of conservative Democrats, but the 1968 convention was the beginning of the end for them. By the 1972 primaries, when Scoop Jackson got trounced by McGovern it was all but over.

There are 25 Blue Dog (conservative) Democrats now:

http://www.house.gov/tanner/blue.htm
http://www.bluedogdems.com/

I counted 56 members of the Progressive Caucus. That should illustrate what has become of the Democratic Party.

Most of the conservative Democrats (besides the Blue Dogs) bolted the party and became Republicans.

A truly hateful BITCH. She has the audacity to disfavor those fleeing tyrannical oppression and favoring a convicted cop killer fugitive in Cuba.

The demographics of her district are almost 50% hispanic and mid 30s black.

I've always wondered why so many of our hispanic "brothers" always seem to turn their backs on us. How is it that such a large percentage of them from Latin America (especially Mexico) come here for a better life and then throw their support to those that only seek to destroy the very system they came to?

Is it because our latin breathren have not experienced communism first hand? Is it the entitlement syndrome? Or both?

Posted by: Max at February 21, 2006 12:41 PM

Fellow babaluers,

I don't want to make a blanket statement because there are those that are non-Cuban and are fervently anti communist, and those are truly our brothers who I have the utmost respect for.

But when I see that "latins" throw their support behind people like Waters and to the left in general, I think of myself as CUBAN, not LATIN.

I don't want to be lumped into the herd that comes here with an entitlement complex, thinking that the United States owes them everything and yet denouncing the hand that feeds them.

I hold those in contempt.

Thank you MR.McGill for signing our Petition...

Nice, Val, very nice.

I can't stand even the sight of Maxime Waters. She is a complete idiot, and a shame to the Democratic Party. She is wrong in almost every thing not just the Cuban issue. Full disclosure: I lean Democrat (although there is no way I could ever vote for her)

I'm thinking of throwing a couple of bucks to McGill.

Posted by: Eduardo at February 21, 2006 05:31 PM

The only parties that are endorsing McGill are Republicans and the voters of that district (who are religiously Democratic) know this.

He lost to Waters by a wide margin six years ago and we don't see it being any "closer."

Those of you thinking about sending money, you're better off saving yourself the trip to the post office and throwing it your window.

The people that live in that part of LA could care less about Fidel Castro so McCill's anti-Cuba comments don't mean anything

This guy has zero chance.

Posted by: Roscoe at February 22, 2006 02:52 PM

Hey Roscoe,
Who endorses Waters? Saddam Hussein? Fidel Castro?

Its a shame the latin and blacks in that area are taken for granted by the Dems, who in reality seem to need those folks to remain in poverty to increase their government dependence.

The DEMS (for the most part) are the "woe is me" party. They think people are incapable of being self sufficient and that peoples lives revolve around the government.
