Venezuela is headed down fidel's path: Institute leftist "reforms", blame it all on the US, throw the gov't's weight around, and if you don't like it, tough shit. Will someone please educate me as to why the opposition is so fractured and has no viable candidate for the Dec. election. I understand that you can't trust a Chavez election, but knowing him and his ideological soulmate, this may be their last chance to stage a fight to Chavez.

Well, you can't say they weren't warned about Chavez and the path he would lead Venezuela to.

I think people have to learn the hard way, sadly.

Then again, the Venezuelan people may not be as bad as it seems, given all the fraud Jimmy Carter chose to overlook during the last election to get rid of Chavez.

Val, that headline to you post is spot on. Oil or no oil, I think Chavez will bankrupt Venezuela sooner rather than later.

Wy are the Venezuelans so upset? with Chavez didnt they vote for him in a landslide election
OH now they found out that he is just as corrupt as prior goverments the only difference is that he is not going to give it and you will see him import Fidel represion system wich by the way is already in place Ho you belive that all those guys are really doctors and teachers ? and do you really think that the oposition is going to unify against him ? face it your country is going to hell in a hand basket and you are handing it over to him with a ribbon

I found it interesting that he's sending aid to Africa to fight malaria while the number of cases in his own country has increased tremendously. This is so Castro-like!!

Now more than ever we understand the plight of our cuban brothers. Likewise we fully understand the need to unite with all that understand the need to end communism in our hemosphere. The sea of happiness is not.
