Here's today's assignment:

Read this.

Then go here. Find the commies in the list. Set aside plenty of time, there's plenty of them.

Other than Perez, I've never heard of any of these people. They must all be artistic and intellectual legends in their own minds. I think Lincoln's comment hits the nail on the head.

Oh man. Do some googling, Mike. Ill give you one or two to start on:

Nelson Valdez
Alfredo Duran

Ok, I've heard of the Duran dude (un repentido). I googled Valdez and came up with a Paraguyan soccer player. :-p

I guess most of these folks linger in the pro-castro underground with other forms of vermin.

So they think us exiles are unbending? No, solo INTRANSIGENTES, when it comes to kaSStro and his apologists. Why are they so concerned about "greater freedom to travel to Cuba?" So they can have a good 'ole time with the jineteras?
Would fit right in with their not-so-closet whoring for the coma-andante.

I only know Portes, I read two of his books for a project in acculturation and enclaves.

I'm with mike, I don't know these people.

If you support the regime, then you are a fellow traveler. I am not talking about being against the "embargo" or "travel restrictions," because those are just red herrings; I mean supporting the regime by parroting their propaganda, like these folks have done. They are shameful.

Nelson Valdes is none other than the father of Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, the dirty queen of "Chica lit".

Ah, the Christopher Reynolds foudation. Check this out, note the money going to castro and his whores.

Foundation, not foudation, yeesh, can't type when I'm upset.

I was having a tough enough day today, then comes this @#%*&!

Notice the 80% are pointy-headed ivory-tower morons who never got dirt under their fingernails but want to call all the shots. Anytime I read "professor" claiming to be an authority on Cuban affairs, I run. For every detestable name on the list, there are THOUSANDS of other names of people who REALLY know what's going on.

How sickening.

I wish these "great scholars" would actually bother to discuss viable alternatives instead of just repeating castro's tired rhetoric.

i wonder how many of the people on the list are actually "infiltrados" of fidels....i bet there are a few.

Max Castro. Silvia Wilhelm.

castro apologists of the first order.

I recognize two names. One, Ricardo Gonzales, I met once in Madison where my son attended university. This was several years ago. At the time, I was almost convinced that the embargo was a failed policy. I should have suspected that there is a strong link between the castro regime and liberal forces in Madison. Chalk it up to living as an isolated Cuban up north. The second name is Jose Perez. He contacted me some time ago asking me for current professional information to help him update the records of the Cintas Fellows collection which he is curating at the Frost Art Museum. He seemed very supportive and cordial. I'm not sure what to make of his affiliation with this group. My own opinion on the embargo issue is evolving. In light of the decaying health of castro, a change in policy now or from this point on is not a good idea. That is not to say that something more should have been done up till now. The embargo alone has obviously not had the intended effect. Over the years, castro has found many ways to work around it, and he found other countries only too willing to help him. We simply did not want to spend political capital coming down on those countries, many of whom are partners with us on the war on terror. Do you keep an embargo that you know is not airtight? I suppose it's better than no embargo. But 47 years of castro is too long to wait. Something more should have been done. Something more should be done even now.
