Being stupid is no excuse.
I cant even begin to express how incredibly pissed this picture has made me.
And this one.
And this one.
And there's plenty more here.
So if anyone out there was upset or bothered by the fact that I did not condone or support yesterday's protests, now you have a pictorial representation of my reasons. And I hope no one emails me with the standard "but they dont know any better" bullshit. If theyre going to wear the image of someone on their person, the onus is on them to learn about said person. Being stupid is no excuse.
And one other thing, there have been hours upon unending hours of coverage by the MSM on these protest for the past few days and not once - NOT FUCKING ONCE - did I see any mention or photograph or video coverage of any of these socialists with the Che Guervara shirts and posters and signs. NOT ONCE in the MSM.
The only people with the honesty and wherewithal to cover this one very important aspect of the protests has been bloggers.
Hat tip: Mike Pancier and Gigi.

Interestingly, as reported by Lou Dobbs, only the Washington Post mentioned that the protests were being run by our local bunch of Reds, International ANSWER. That doesn't get reported on the nightly news, does it?

Now that I see CHe here just remembered i wanted to share something:
Sorry this is completely unrelated but I invite you to check the comments on imdb.com of Andy Garcia's movie "The Lost City" (just type The lost city and check at the bottom). They don't really comment on the movie a lot but the "opinions" of few stupid comebolas about Fidel and Che are just inadmissible. I almost had a heart attack!
On the other hand,I must say there are a lot of great responses as well.
Loved the movie

John Lennon was close, anyway.

What can we say about this?
Oh, the humanity!
Or lack of it...
I guess they see Che as a savior figure and they WANT to believe the myth so bad because they really don't have a valid educated culture, what can you expect from low riders, zoot suits, gang color head bands, State financed brain washed PC Chicano(a) studies programs, generations of inner family gang membership - so the things that come along their way - no matter how ugly and vulgar, they embrace. or can we say that they are evil - and that an evil people worship evil? The only thing of redeeming value that these folks have is the Virgin of Guadelupe - I hope she comes to them and educates them with love and forgiveness. They are really uneducated peasants - they are illiterate in so many ways - not only education wise, but spiritually.
Maybe they really need a Che like figure that will come to them and bring mega death to them one day - lets see how much they will worship revolution then. But in the end they embrace violence with their love of Aztlán and the Aztec iconography of millions of humans sacrificed to their defunct gods - Che is just another one of their obsolete deities.

It's enough to make you crazy. I dealt with yesterday by meeting friends at a restaurant run by law abiding Mexican-Americans working their asses off during happy hour. From what I hear,it was their own neighborhoods that took the brunt of the financial hit from yesterday.

Yes Ziva, b/c it was the Hispanic business that mainly closed, and they usually are in the mainly Hispanic neighborhoods.

So I went to ANSWER's website (internationalanswer.org) and found their info on the "US Blockade of Cuba" (i couldnt link directly to thispage, but you can click their "about us" tab and then on the left there will be a link that reads "end blockade of cuba"):
"It is the longest and most cruel blockade known to the history of mankind."
"III. It is a fundamental part of State Terrorism policy.
IV. It qualifies as an act of genocide."
"THE BUSH PLAN FOR ANNEXATION
Objective
Destroy the Revolution, restore capitalism and reinstate imperial domination over the Cuban nation."
They have these assholes leading them into the streets, and then want to lecture us on the importance of solidarity.

There was a guy on the messageboard for The Lost City on imdb.com who claimed that Cubans have more opportunity now than they did before castro. Then he quoted a couple articles from Granma to back it up. Genius.

Ziva, what was the consensus of the folks you met? For? Against? Neutral? I'm curious to know from your unique vantage point over there in LA.

Five idiots in a Che shirt, is not worth condemning and entire movement for immigration reform.
This is Seattle, what do you expect???? The same idiots throwing rocks in anti-globaloney protests some years ago, and the same 20 guys who run 50 communist groups and front groups. Fringe groups have nothing better to do than protest in this kind of thing.
I linked some excellent stuff that appeared in the Chicago Tribune about what happened in the capital of the US heartland, Chicago with its huge Latino and immigrant community.
At that huge demonstration, you could spot Palestinian authority AND Israeli flags, the fringe groups were around, but so were Mexican and Polish hardhats.
