Hell for Hugo

Alan Garcia, who once was the worst leftist president in all South America during the 1980s, has come out swinging against Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez. He's obviously changed his ways and is now verbally beating the daylights out of Chavez! And as you can see, having once been a Classic Latin American Idiot himself, he knows all about what Hugo's about. He reads Chavez like a book.

Check out this article in El Universal:

Alan García: Chávez intends to dominate South America

Former Peruvian President and current presidential candidate Alan García warned that Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has launched a strategy to dominate South America, by supporting a number of presidential hopefuls in the region.

"A strategy to dominate South American countries is under way based on Venezuelan oil, the political model of Mr. Chávez, who in some countries uses his active and verbal support for some candidates as an instrument," García told radio station RPP.

In García's view, Chávez' political model "can only take us to a violent setback in the possibility to join world markets and the possibility to build important works such as the Inter-oceanic way."

He also rejected the fact that Bolivian ruler Evo Morales branded the salutation of his Peruvian counterpart Alejandro Toledo during a summit in Vienna over the weekend as "part of a buffoonery," AP reported.

"Both Chávez and Morales commonly use exaggerated terms at all times just to draw the attention," García added.

Here's the best part: Every time Alan Garcia speaks up like this, he gains at least a point in the presidential polls. The more he whales hell out of Chavez, the more popular he gets.

The more he talks, the more the Peruvians like him. And so do we. Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks?

WE LOVE THE PERUVIANS!

Isn't that the truth, Xavier? It's just amazing! Just as it takes a diamond to break another diamond, so it takes one clownish leftwing leader to destroy another. Alan's been there, done that, grew up, and now sees in Chavez the same clown he once was. Of course it repels him.

Things won't move really fast but I think Latam is uniting against this thug.

A.M.
Espero que si. In the meantime, I think the Latin Americans will progressively become embarrassed at Chavez and wonder if an Andrés Bello might eventually become president of a Latin American country and show that gambero how a chief executive should behave.

On a more serious note, I suspect that Venezuelans won't be easily welcomed when they go travelling or look for business opportunities in the 'neighbourhood'

Heres a raised glass to Chavez for attempting to change the corrupt and disgusting world of neoliberalism. Bush, Blair and all the rest have done nothing to improve the way of life of anyone but the already rich and greedy. To call Chavez a thug is a joke. Don't any of you read about the right wing goverments actions, or maybe you are too shortsighted? Best of luck with that. Viva la revolution
