Che Hunter

The current President of the Brigade 2506 (Bay of Pigs) Veteran's Association is a man by the name of Felix Ismael Rodriguez. His name might be familiar to you from his testimony in the Iran-Contra hearings or because of his book Guerrero de La Sombra or Shadow Warrior as it's known in English.

But more than likely you've never heard of Felix I. Rodriguez, though you should have. As a CIA operative he was attached to the Bolivian Army when the Argentine revolutionary murderer and all-around scumbag, Che Guevara was captured. Below is the last picture of Che alive. Mr. Rodriguez is the last person who spoke to Che before the Bolivians shot him. He is pictured on the left, and Guevara is on the right.

Well Mr. Rodriguez was at CubaNostalgia this weekend, because he's the chairman of the Bay of Pigs Museum project and I couldn't miss the opportunity to get my picture taken with him and thank him for his service to our country.

Take that Carlos Santana! And please contribute to the Bay of Pigs Museum project.

Bien hecho! Well done! Wish I'd had the pleasure of meeting the gentleman...nevertheless let me say it was great dropping by yesterday, meeting some of my friends - more like family - in the blog brigade.
You know who you are. I do regret missing Julio Zangroniz - could have talked on about photographs and photography.

Say, would it be possible to create a Version 2.0 of the cheshit t-shirts (che is the shit, not the shirts!) with the photo of the captive cheshit? Maybe it could be captioned "1967 - che makes medical history - finds out lead cures asthma permanently!" Or: "I ain't so tough when I'm the defenseless prisoner..."

I'm sure others will come up with more creative suggestions.

Thanks for Che's pic. and the man who was responsible for his capture. And to know that there are so many wearing his image in this country!

I had the pleasure of meeting several veterans from the 2506 brigade yesterday and was humbled to be in the compamy of those heroes. I thanked several of them recognizing their efforts on behalf of us.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Rodriguez last month in Tampa, during a ceremony honoring the Bay of Pigs veterans. I mentioned the tributes that were written in this blog regarding the Brigade, and he told me had had heard of them. While I had not yet rcvd my dead che shirt at the time, I took my copy of Shadow Warrior, and he was nice enough to autograph it with a very nice message to me. This man is a living example of patriotism, sacrife, and just plain old co****s.

American hero and patriot.

Felix, if you're reading this, we love you! My friend Jim Quesada spoke so highly of you.

We should make t-shirts of Felix and turn him into our own icon!

Is it just interpretation through projection on my part, or does the partially hidden face of the ranger behind cheshit reflect contempt, disgust, and hate? Summarizes what many of us felt and feel about that douche bag and its groupies.

I don't think it was either contempt, disgust or hate-just revulsion as cheshit' legendary malodorousness.

Look at what a dirtbag, a crusty lowlife, a bum that che really was! His exterior filthiness was nothing compared to the dirt, grease and grime inside. He was a dirty job but someone had to take out the trash. Poor Felix, having to be exposed to such toxic chemicals and pollutants. In the end, it was a Bolivian job to clean the place up. Thank you Felix! And thank you Bolivia!

There's nothing funnier to me than watching someone order a $7 dollar coffee at starbucks while wearing a $35 Che shirt. If he were more successful as a revolutionary nobody would wear a shirt with his face printed on it. He was incompetent enough to never rise to level of his comrades like Pol Pot or Stalin so people can feel comfortable knowing that they are celebrating a semi-successful mass murderer.
