Conventional wisdom?
The conventional wisdom is that raul will be easier to deal with than fidel, that he is more moderate, more amenable to negotiate with the yanquis. Yeah. Right. Whatever. My negotiating is simple. Two in the back of this motherfucker's head and three in his brother's, just in case the first two fail.
Raul Downed the PlanesEl Nuevo Herald revealed today what we always knew; Raúl ordered the downing of the two civilian Hermanos al Rescate planes - just listen to his order, if you dare. Hijo de Puta.
In case you need a refresher about the incident, you can go here.
This is two days in a row that real news come out of Cuba. Something is going on.
Why has this act of war not been dealt with? I mean, shooting down US flag airplanes in international airspace is not an act done without some deliberation, right? They know the US Government is weak-willed and afraid of public opinion. I wish it weren't that way but sadly it is.

Nothing was done because the philanderer in chief was in office. Then they ask why we vote Republican.

Henry, even though I will never, ever, never, never, ever, never, ever, ever, never, ever vote for a Democrat again, I frankly don't know if a Republican president -- other than maybe Reagan -- would do anything either. Call me cynical and disheartened, but that's how I feel.

Reagan would've done something George, of that I'm sure; and I think so would've Bush Sr.

I think you're absolutely right George. Also, If this guy were still alive and President, you bet your ass he would really do something about it. His name.. George S. Patton. Acaba con toda esa comedura de mierda y mariconeria de Raul, y la Revolucion comprada, cause everyone knows it was sold out by fidelito, Raultilia, y "Chi Chi" Guevara

Hmmmmm, That was interesting.... Now, why would they admit to it at a time like this....?
Just think, a few years from now, we'll probably all be watching on the History Channel or something a show about what was going on in Cuba as we speak. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Cuba right now.
Anybody think it was a coincidence that the morning before the "unexpected" announcement in Cuba that President Bush ate breakfast at Versailles? I think the government knows *exactly* what is going on, but to say anything would give the whole game away.
It's Spy vs Spy in Havana tonight, I will wager. The US can't do anything overt without an official death announcement----but why do we have to be....overt?

After sending some hints of willingness of making some "accords" with the usa government, the
target is of course, the eventual success of the
Usa democrat Party in the upcoming mild-term elections, the cuban "government" has suffered a
blow this week when The Herald publications in
which is clear the key role of Rc in the premeditated shut down of the unarmed planes of Hermanos al Rescate on international space according of the responsible and widely accepted decision of United Nation Civil Aviation Organization. It seems to me that the possibility of any arragment with any successor of the castrism era and usa stewardship is almost nil and
it isn't total possible that the democrats could showel up all the way in the upcoming elections,so
no chances, whatsoever,to make the succession easier for the tyran and his cronies.

I just want to make two quick points about this incident. Firstly, this was an overt act of war by downing a private plane in international airspace. There should have been a proportionate response to serve as a stern warning for engaging in similiar activities in the future- how about engaging and downing of several Cuba MIGs? But all we got was some finger-wagging from Madeline Albright and her infamous "this is not cohones, this is cowardice" line, which probably elicited uproarious laughter from inside the regime. A predictable response from the Clinton administration which further reinforced our reputation in the world as a paper tiger who could be bullied around, no doubt.
But more importantly I think it's necessary to lay the groundwork and educate other readers of this blog who many be on the fence about this issue- the use of military force to response to provocations- that the U.S. is more than justified in responding MILITARILY when an act of aggression is committed against our country or our interests. What if the plane that Raul ordered down was a commercial jet? A strong military response will at least deter these actions in the future, or if the castro-ites are considering something more devious in the future, they will know that there will be a stern price to be paid. Zero tolerance for any aggression must be the rule from here on out- it's a different ballgame today.

The recent release of a recording of Raul Castro ordering the shoot down of the Brother's to the Rescue planes suggests that internal opposition to Raul is building up. One reason for this is that improved relations with the US would strongly enhance the living conditions of the Cuban nomenclatura (Mayimbe), and that according to US law this cannot happen until Raul as well as Fidel is removed from power in Cuba. In reaction one would, considering past behaviours, to expect that Raul will suppress these putative rivals with at least some executions.
