Uncommon Actress

I was never a big fan until I saw her performance in Monster. Charlize Theron was brilliant.

Now, I like her even more. Marc at Uncommon Sense explains.

Nice to see the truth coming out of Hollywood once in awhile. Did you read the one visible comment on the imdb.com link to the film? Ugh. A clueless UK commie parrots the castro-controlled propaganda to try to refute the facts portrayed in 'East of Havana.' Is there any way to displace that with a fair review?

You want to read more crap? As Val says, if you can stomach it, go to the first comment (or review) here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0808241/

Here's a hint. "Can the film can reasonably called 'pro-American'?" (His writing errors not mine.)

Why is it that if anything having to do with Cuba shows dissent against fidel it's pro American and automatically suspect of being a "Bush" political play and lacking legitimacy? (Here's another hint..."This film appeared at the Festival within days of President Bush announcing $80 dollars – not in aid, but to 'boost democracy' by helping the people in their "transition from repressive control to freedom." Was the film part of that kind of thinking?)

See what I mean?

I haven't seen it yet but I hope it does challenge the left's stereotypical image of fidel.

Cheers Ms. Theron. Changes in attitude start with efforts like yours. You are an intelligent, gutsy and beautiful women.

Glad to see this type of film out there. Unfortunately, it stands out because of its principles.

One would think (think being the operative word) that good-intentioned, righteous Hollywood types would be stumbling over themselves in order to do movies which expose the injustices in Cuba. How can someone objectively look at what's going on in Cuba and NOT want to shine a light on it?

Yeah, yeah...I know the answer, just venting a little.

I had hated her because of her role in Ciderhouse Rules, glorifying sleazy abortion clinics, but today, all is forgiven,

Charlize is a real revolutionary heroine, right up there with Helen Houdova!

She is admirable, but also gorgeous. Another anti-communist babe. I would be able to "keep my hands off" to a point! ;)

Wow, my esteem for her has certainly risen.

As a side not has anyone ever seen a documentary about human rights violations in Cuba named (I think) "No One listed"? This documenatry was produced in the late 1980s. I seen it at a film festival here in Los Angeles but never seen or heard of it since. Anyone have any idea what happened to it?

Couldnt find an Edit function here, so please change "As side not" to "As a side note" and "No One Listed" to " No One Listened". Sorry about the spelling errors.
