I freaked out when I found that he has been a sort of "regular" on al Jazeera; then he really steps on it big time with his last commentary.
May I suggest that his appointment another affirmative action blunder on parade. Hispanic or not, he should get his lily-white *ss dragged out of the Staet Dept.
Imbecil commie.

Stop the press. U.S. policy in Iraq isn't arrogant and stupid. Say the course hasn't run its course.
Malkin:
US State Department mouthpiece Alberto Fernandez issued a statement tonight saying he's sorry for condemning American "arrogance and stupidity" in Iraq ... Okay. But like I said, it was where and how he chose to criticize Iraq policy--in Arabic on the terrorist propaganda network, al Jazeera, right after a terrorist spokesman called on jihadis to bring America to its knees.
Malkin is as focused on what insurgents/terrorists are thinking instead of Fernandez's intended audience: average Iraqis stuck between choosing sides or dying, and a few Muslim states worried about a Kurdish irredentist movement.
Al Jazeera is Fernandez's best shot at reaching the most Muslims. To quote a moderately conservative poster elsewhere, Fernandez's assessment is wrong because we "didn't really try to do our best. The actual occupation, after the invasion, was ill-considered and mismanaged at the get-go".
I can think of a second and third State Department official that could use a pink slip by Malkin's high standards. Or is the real problem the elephant in the room: the fact that we have no meaningful political support in the Middle East and we refuse to risk our oil import quotas?

I'm not surprised ... he's "left-over" from the previous administration ... ready and willing to sabotage the present administration ... after reading about Mr. Fernandez, I believe he meant what he said on Al Jazeera.
The following is from an earlier piece on Fernandez:
"Though his candor may get him in trouble with some right-wing critics, he believes that honest interactions with the Arab public are the only way to start improving America's image abroad. "Maybe [my critics] are ideological automatons, but I'm not," Fernandez said. "All I have to say is, thank God they don't speak Arabic." (Source: Ocnus.net 2006)
I wish you well :) Melek
