Be afraid. Be very afraid.
The American Thinker has a great column on the elections that are but 12 days away. I have made my position very clear as to who I will vote for. I will never, ever, never, never, ever, ever, never trust a Democrat again. So my vote is easy. However, if some of you are still straddling the fence, then read this.
So the woman who would be Speaker would intentionally impede both our human and electronic intelligence gathering. She will rule over a House whose committee chairmen share her preposterous belief that the ends justify the means only when those means are sanctioned by the ACLU. That breaching the “liberties” of the few in order to save the millions is an unacceptable exchange. Yes, the enemy tortures, decapitates and slaughters without mercy—but we are morally superior. But here’s what the Dems just don’t get: Every time we show the enemy our moral superiority—we get weaker. Every time the enemy brandishes his complete lack of morality—he gets stronger. Furthermore, every time he is presented with a new weakness on our part – he grows stronger still.
Surely, the liberal response to terrorism has been and will continue to be a veritable showcase of weakness and cowardice. And, just as surely—only through strength and courage might we avoid the day when much of Manhattan resembles the smoldering ruins which were the World Trade Center on September 12, 2001.
So forget about Abramoff, Katrina, Iraq, and any other Republican blunder which the MSM has unabashedly over-reported in an effort to deflate your motivation to get out to the polls. Instead of the mundane fallout over Foley, consider the potential lethal fallout over your city.
For the sake of this and future generations—vote. Vote as though your life depended on it – for it just might. Pelosi has said that this election “shouldn’t be about National Security.” If the Democrats retake the House, she will have been right – dead right.
America's future is up for grabs. If you envision that future with Conyers, Rangel, Pelosi and Dean in charge of Congress then vote for your favorite Democrat. If you are as concerned as I am, then there is only one choice. I know there is dissatisfaction among the Repulican ranks. I am one of these. I am not pleased with many of President Bush's decisions. But I know one thing despite my dissatisfaction: the alternative is so much worse that just contemplating it is a horrible ordeal.

George,
I totally agree. Bad as you think things are, the alternative is unnacceptable if the Dems take control. Their leadership is so far to the left that their control would lead to policies that undermine our very existence.

Yep, I'm disappointed in the GOP...... But I'm pissed at a Party that compares our Fightin' Men to Nazi Storm-Troopers, Assumes the worst on Bush and other Republicans but they assume the best in thugs like Castro.....Sounds like they would rather the US be defeated so they can scream WE-TOLD-YOU-SO even though This gives comfort to this country's enemies and weakens our ability to win... Would rather Have Social Security go bankrupt than GOPers get credit, ETC

Politics is about choosing the lesser of two evils. It's understood that the lesser evil has undesirable or bad aspects, but as long as it's not as bad as the alternative, it's unquestionably the best way to go.
Personally, I don't believe in "belonging" to any political party. Politics and politicians are always suspect. However, the voter still has to choose between the available options, and choosing the lesser evil is better than not choosing at all.

Do not be afraid. Be valiant. Be defiant. Be voting. Be getting your friends and family to vote. Vote for freedom. Vote for our liberty. Vote for our wonderful economy. Vote for our continued progress. Vote for our victory over the terrorists.
Never surrender. Never never never surrender.
Vote Republican.

Even better---if the GOP wins this one, this will probably give moderate Dems some dammit-you-Kosbot-idiots-can't-win-dogcatcher traction and pull the Democrats back to the center. We need real debate on how to fight an unconventional war against an unconventional enemy who tries to use our laws against us without compromising civil liberties. However, all we get from Democrats in the way of logic is "whatever the opposite of what Bush is doing" as a political posture, not a plan.
The Bush Administration needs constructive criticism----and a Speaker Pelosi won't give him that.

Here's another way of looking a it If the democrats win, it will force the republicans to get their act together for the 98 election a little house cleaning will do them good. Who knows they might even go back to being real conservatives.

"The al-Qaida Bomb is Coming – Vote for Your Life!"
Straight out of Karl Rove's handbook. I'd be proud of writing that if I looked forward to pooping my pants every time Bush gave a presidential address.

Afraid is what Bush wants us to be! I am tired of that BS.
I am going to vote for freedom. I am going to vote for honesty, not lies and inuendo. Maybe Barack Obama may run, wouldn't that be great. BUT
I AM voting DEMOCRAT for a free Cuba!!! The republicans do not deserve a second chance!

Democrats for a Free Cuba????
ha ha ha ha ha please people let's get real, is Charles Rangel not a democrat?? and yet he went on trips sponsored by Castro.
What about Clinton?? Wet foot-Dry foot anyone??
What about Kennedy?? Ohh he cancelled the air strike on the same day of the invasion because he was afraid of what the international community might think, not to mention other failures.
Ohh wait, what about Jimmy Carter?? Nada, he just visited Castro a few years ago and talked about democracy while Castro and Perez Roque laughed in his face. Nice going Jimmy, ridiculing the American voters while you can. Have you seen any change in Cuba ever since??? Nope.
It has been said that Hillary Clinton and another woman went to Cuba in the Zafra a cortar ca~a, not sure there is proof, but it wouldn't surprise me.
So based on the evidence, judge for yourselves.
Ohh don't forget it took a Republican to take down the Soviet Union, and had it not been for Kennedy's retarded deal with Kruschev about Cuba, we would be telling a different story

Ian and Ray, please. Don't insult our intelligence.
Ian, go to DemocraticUnderground where you can wear your foil hat, OK. You are worse than a fool. You are a fool who is excited about being a fool.
Ray, please dude. If you call yourself "conservative" and "libertarian" as you have in previous comments, then I cannot take your statement seriously. Either you don't know what you are talking about or you are being disingenuous.
Read qbanartemisa's comments above. That says it all.

George Dude, Dems, Republicans, neither one has shown us that they can govern, that's why they are called the do nothing congress, they are more like a debating society than a congress. i feel equally uncoformtable with either party and so most of my fellow americans. If it makes you feel good to put lipstick on the republican-pig go for it. I know what i'm talking about! I live it and i see it everyday.

Ray,
Not voting is still letting someone who can do you more harm win. It doesn't make sense to say that you're a "conservative" or "libertarian" and then not be worried about the House run by Nancy Pelosi or Rangel as the chairman of the ways and means committee. That has to be a "libertarian's" worst nightmare!
I will hold my nose and vote against the dems. My pocketbook and my nerves would never survive.

Hey Q-ban dude:
What say you about Bush 2 and Bush 1 and Reagan? I don't see any progress in any of those administrations?
Go ahead and fool yourselves into thinking ese maricon "Bush" will help out the Cubans. Let's just hope he doesn't make another mess as big as Katrina and Iraq.

at October 26, 2006 11:30 PM
Ian,
Now I know you're being disingenuous. Katrina was NOT Bush's fault!!!!
The mess was started there way before Bush ever became President. And, last time I heard, Louisiana does have a Governor and New Orleans does have a Mayor, City Council etc. Have you ever heard of a little concept called "States Rights"? Please...get real!

Oh sorry-you are right Mavi. Katrina was "Brownie's fault". Good ole Brownie! A buyer and seller of horses gets stuck being the fema director???? What was Bush thinking? That's the problem --he was thinking and he was up to no good!!

Mavi you say: House run by Nancy Pelosi or Rangel as the chairman of the ways and means committee. That has to be a "libertarian's" worst nightmare.
Let's seee if you can see my reasoning here. it boils down to which nightmare is more attractive the republican war-mongering, moralist, mismanegement nightmare from bush and his cronies or the pelosi/reed socialist state, raise my taxes nightmare. Since both are unappealing, i will not reward either one with my vote. I'll focus on being self reliant and not look at goverment for my well-being.
I'm hoping that this election will bring a new set of choices in 98, maybe the rise of an independet third party.

Ian,
Katrina was a natural disaster-no body caused it. The best they could have done was plan for it. They had been predicting it for decades. Millions upon millions have been given to Louisiana to repair the levees and nothing was done.
I have plenty of reasons to be mad at Bush. But at least I try to be rational about the things I say. You lose all your credibility when your arguments are completely senseless.
Posted by: mavi
at October 27, 2006 09:32 AM
Ray,
The Pelosi nightmare will do much more than just raise your taxes...
I might vote for a third party candidate, if I thought he/she had a good chance of winning.
But for now...como decia mi Abuelita..."es mejor el malo conocido, que el bueno por conocer."
But, that's just my opinion.

at October 27, 2006 09:36 AM
Mavi, one way to look at the pelosi nightmare, it can't be worst than what we have now, the do nothing congress. they will spend all their time debating, nothing will get passed since there's no consensus. so from that sense the pelosi might be tolerable, just close your eyes, hold your nose, turn the tv off and you will endure it.
Regarding Katrina, i think where i agree with ian is on the no-leadership and no-management of the disaster by the bush administrations. To quote bush "You doing a heck of job Brownie..." kind frames for you

Ian it is Q-ban girl FYI
And let me tell you something about Reagan, Bush father and Bush son, something which probably your liberal history teacher didn't mention cause you know, she was to busy admiring Kennedy and how he handled (miss-handled for the real people) the Missile Crisis.
Had President Reagan, RIP, not taken to the top la carrera armamentista against the Soviet Union, now you would probably be in shackles cause the USSR would have beaten us had there not been a Republican in power. It was Reagan's and afterwards Bush father's foreign policy and Gorbachev what took down the Soviet Union. That is not lipstick, that is a fact.
Only a few years of Kennedy, and the Russians installed missiles in Cuba, and what did Kennedy agree to?? He decided to take out our missiles in Turkey which were the only threat the USSR was facing. Hello!!!
We can talk about makeup and lip-stick all you want, but tell me, do you know what happened when Jimmy Carter was in power?? Let's see, some terrorist kidnapped some Americans, Jimmy led an operation of rescue which was a total disaster, and Castro sent criminals and assasins along with the cuban refugees that came in mass exodus.
Reagan was elected and he mounted a military operation around Cuba, with portaviones, military ships and everything. Castro got scared and the exodus stopped.
Ever since then Reagan was called in Cuba: "el domador del caballo" (the tamer of the horse) because Castro was scared as hell of him, and even though Castro talked all the lies he always does, he would not dare raise a hand cause he knew Reagan was not playing.
Did you know that the major of New Orleans was a democrat, then ask yourself, what the hell was he doing to get those people out??? That was his job, the one he gets paid for and the point is that by having a major the president doesn't have to handle manually every town or city. Does State government vs. federal government ring any bells??
Ohh, and a piece of info you may want to add is that it was Eisenhower and Nixon who began in 1959 the secret plans of the invasion, and it was Kennedy who forced Nixon in a presidential debate to reveal the plans because Kennedy asked him a question about it on purpose when they were under oath and Nixon, unlike Clinton, told the truth. Since Nixon was not elected, then Kennedy continued the plans but he backed out in the beginning of the invasion so he practically sent the exiled cubans to die because the American ships were told NOT to get involved.
Well if Congress was DO-NOTHING as you say it would be because the Dems were filibustering. Do you not remember how long it took for them to finish questioning and aprooving someone for the position of the Supreme Court.
BTW did you know that several Democrats had oil business deals with Hugo Chavez, so that they could get a lower price of oil and the people would vote for them.
There is your portion of the DO-NOTHING Congress, the Democrats, who range from liberal communist to those pro-Castro like Rangel to those who make business with Chavez.

George, i'm just calling it i see it, i'm not cheering for either team, neither one is looking out for me. If it was upto me the country would be run like corporation, supervised by a board of governors, they would hire a management team to run things efficiently. Non performeers would get they ax.
Neither of this parties is representing you or me they represent they corporate interests that gives them money to get elected.
Hey if the republicans make you warm and fuzzy, may the republicans win, see i'm easy to get along with. I'm not going to loose any sleep over this.

Hey fellow bloggers:
First time posting. I need to ask you all a question. Why do you feel the need to vote Republican especially when you see all the harm they are doing to our country AND to the world? Please enlighten me.
I am willing to bet that the Democrats will win the election by a landslide.
NOW having said that- Let me tell you that I am a Cuban-American and I love my homeland but can't for the life of me understand how the Republicans have done anything of great importance to help our cause for a free Cuba.
As I said please enlighten me! I am willing to learn.
