Lileks on the Bay of Pigs

Right at the end of today's Bleat, Lileks comments on the Bay of Pigs:

Ah. Yes. Well. The Bay of Pigs. Well, at least we learned our lesson. Talk strong and act irresolute , and the situation will resolve itself. Neatly and quickly. It's not like Cuba ever troubled us again.

Indeed.

Hat tip: Paxety.

What an ignorant jackass!

"It's not like Cuba ever troubled us again."

Yeah right!

He can thank J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI agents who on Nov. 17, 1962, cracked a terrorist plot by Castro-Cuban agents that had targeted Macy's, Gimbel's, Bloomindales and Manhattan's Grand Central Station with a dozen incendiary devices and 500 kilos of TNT. This explosive event was scheduled to take place a WEEK later on the day after Thanksgiving.
