This, that and the other thing

Let's see...

There's US congressmen in Cuba meeting with the Cuban government to find more ways to undermine the embargo and trade with Cuba.

The Cuban government restricts foreign journalists even more.

fidel castro supposedly is running the country from his death bed via telephone.

che CD cases and fidel caps are all the rage this Christmas.

No wonder I nor any of the Babalu contributors didnt feel like posting much yesterday.

I think Im just going to concentrate on getting the house ready for Noche Buena today, watch some football and drink a few beers with friends. All of the above and more will still be there tomorrow. Unfortunately.

However, things are looking pretty good at the Weblog Awards. I know the results are not final until Monday, but I, for one, will drink a beer to this...

This should cheer some up. There are still some foreigners who appreciate America.

Profiteers galore, one dude I just can't figure out is that US Congressman Jeff Flake, Republican (now there is an appropiate last name), 1) Who's payroll is he on? 2) What's his cut all the way in from AZ? Suppose we will have to do a FOIA request(Freedom of Information Act) to find out who funds this "flake", I asked him twice at his web site what is his unusually persistent interest for busting the embargo and how does that benefit the citizens of Arizona? As usual with that type he never answered. My suppositions are that he is funded by the hotel industry moguls who are relentless on getting rid of the embargo and that most likely the castro intel services have plenty of compromising recordings on him all collected during his numerous trips down there, maybe someone should pass this to one of the US congressional reps from South FL, they may know why this dude keeps at it for years now...

... and with the Pepto on the rocks handy ... read the following article about the first bronze monument honoring "che" in Rosario, Argentina ... keep in mind the source ... and then you can understand the "absurdity" of the following statement by the originator of this project, Zerneri:
"... no se trata de endiosar al Che con una estatua, sino de construir un espacio que contribuya a que los seres humanos se le parezcan más y a que haya en el mundo menos fanatismo y más visión política, como la tuvo él."

I can't help to think that Zerneri possibly had a "lobotomy" performed in one of Cuba's prime neurosurgical hospitals for foreigners.

Well once old Fidel kicks off the
the embargo will hopefully die
with him and the Revolution.

thank you melek for that quote from marti. it cuts to the core of what awaits fidel and his murder inc. in this digital age as more photographic proof is printed and disseminated across the internet, more people will believe what we say about the reality of cuba, and not the lies and myth propogated and abbeted by the regime and its collaborators. so keep the faith like the "brother of the faith" whose memory did not die when he was murdered in fidel's gulag, but instead lives on as a vivid example of man's courage and will against diabolical forces. may god bless all cuban political prisoners and give us their courage to endure.

Just wanted to share the reply I received from Target regarding my e-mail about the "Che" graphics on their merchandise. I guess it's important to create awareness ... sometimes these things are done out of ignorance. So go back and shop at Target!!! Moral Responsibility won!
I omitted my real name, but the following is the actual message.
