Cuban political prisoners in peril
Various reports this weekend indicate that the medical conditions of imprisoned Cuban journalists José Izquierdo and Alfredo Pulido have recently deteriorated.
If apologists for the Cuban dictatorship, in the U.S. Congress and elsewhere, were as half as vigilant about speaking up for Cuba's political prisoners as they are in calling for the lifting of the so-called "embargo," there might be a real chance for more political prisoners, especially those in the poorest medical conditions, to be released.
But as it stands, there's little incentive for raul and the others to release more prisoners when so much of the world either doesn't give a damn or doesn't want to stand in the way of making a few bucks off of new trade with Cuba.
How some American politicians and businessmen ignore, willingly or otherwise, the plight of Cuba's political prisoners is a moral travesty of the highest order.
Today, and every day, please keep in your prayers Izquierdo, Pulido and the otther more than 275 poitical prisoners in the castro gulag.
They need for you to never forget them.

Nobody cares because they're not in American custody. Gitmo, as much of a resort as it is compared to Castro's gulags, will always get more attention.

Liberals tend to suffer from selective outrage. They can't speak out for these men while poor, innocent terrorists are in GITMO.
